this tune is exactly 100% one of the sub-sub-categories of choon that's been replaced by insta reels etc, it's the only thing i can remember from the zappa best of i had when i was 16

I still have the ep. It was a total novelty song like pac-man fever, lol.
I think it just materialized when his daughter was in HS and imitating her classmates.
Ironically it was probably his biggest commercial hit! I’m pretty sure it’s the only one I’ve ever heard on commercial radio.

Another Zappa thing my dad had was the Shampoohorn album by his sons, Ahmet and Dweezil. He saw Dweezil live somewhere doing the Zappa Plays Zappa thing where he plays his dad's music.

tbf Zappa got better when Japanese dudes copied him, made him even more nerdy (in the mathematical sense) but got rid of the dorky libertarian humour.

I disagree in that particular case but I’ve heard some excellent covers of his tunes.
By & large I prefer the original personally.
Compared to Zimmerman though, any cover is almost certainly better than a Bob Dylan original. He could write lyrics.
Sing, play, perform, not so much. & I’ve seen him live probably before KC was born
