Yeah it seems something like serotonin, as an example of chemical antecedent of the psychic, can operate much more robustly if if tempered by some kind of inhibitory mechanism, which I'm pretty sure is the case. (edit: but I haven't properly looked into it yet)
Sort of like having two chances in bocce ball to hit the mark, inside of just one. Or, rather, having this inhibitory mechanism grants the ability of a second, backward throw if the first forward throw was excessive. Even all the players have this ability, the game gets significantly more precise. Millimeter bocce.
For the record, I don't think I've ever played bocce ball.
