Locker room talk: rolling basketball thread

I watched the series, but I can't remember the Kyrie shot. LeBron's block clearly made much more of an impression.

no one had scored on either team for several minutes when he hit it. Lebron's block right after was what completely broke the bottleneck, insane energy.

KD was about an inch away from hitting one of the biggest shots ever last night. Wasnt even watching the game but riding my bike down the street and heard the entire block erupt and pulled over to catch the replay through the window of a bar. They ended up losing in overtime

Explain this to me. If his feet hadn't touched the line it would have been three points but they did so it was... two is it? And that was the difference between a win and a draw, or a draw and a defeat? But don't people hit it from there several times a game? I mean, it would have been such a major thing cos it came in the last seconds and it was a tricky shot - and no doubt made more so by the pressure of it being a last roll of the die - not because in itself it was incredibly difficult? Or am I missing something else?

if he was behind the line it would have been 3 points, putting his team up 1 with a single second left and likely securing the win. Instead it was only a two point shot so regulation time ended in a draw and the game went to extra time. Still an incredible shot just not quite as dramatic as a game winner

But people do pull off shots from there all the time right? It was special cos it was right at the buzzer? Or cos he did that little spin first?

Of course there is always something special about the last second winner or equalizer even.

Platt vs Belgium in the second round of World Cup

Nayim winning cup winners cup in last second (especially sweet cos he used to play for Arsenal's main rivals Tottenham)

United scoring twice in injury time to win Champions League

etc etc

yah shots from that range are very common, most teams offenses are geared around creating open shots from that range. But to do it on a spin while guarded is a wild shot regardless of situation. Kevin Durant, the guy who hit it, is one of the best scorers ever

Didn't he have some controversial tweets recently or something?

KD is always in some minor controversy because he's generally disliked and apparently very sensitive to that and thus is always getting into very unbecoming fights with randos on twitter.

Being an amazingly good sportsman is maybe the only thing that protects you from being cancelled... if Messi goes online and says something massively racist Barca will make the right noises but they can't not use an asset they are paying 3m euros a week.

I wonder whether Lebron would get the same pass Ronaldo did if caught in similar situation. Im not plugged into Ronaldo's case, but its pretty damning, no? Wasnt there some document were he admitted to hearing her repeatedly say no yet continuing?

I actually don't know but he (Ronaldo) is close to untouchable.
Amazing that no-one knows who the mother of his child is.
