If i ever hear it, this immediately comes to mind, not Asprilla against Barca or the mental Liverpool game 4-3 (96?)

There will be some faux outrage and then life will continue. Man City have hardly been tainted with the way the word owners got their money.
Far from it. To be honest - perhaps I'm being unfair here - when I do see or hear a fan talking in a football context about their disgust at the billionaire sports washing clubs, it normally comes across as a supporter of a rival club grabbing and using any available stick to attack an enemy, rather than as a principled stand from a person who is truly troubled by human rights issues and who would simply prefer petrostates to stay away from the game.

Perhaps that's just my cynicism though as there is no real way to identify the motivation behind such complaints.

But obviously it's too late to make any sort of stand. Unlike socialist US sports with their rewards for failure (weaker teams getting better draft picks) and control economies (wage caps), football long ago cast aside any of that "all shall have prizes" mentality in favour of super accelerated greed-is-good capitalism in which rich clubs win more stuff and get more money to buy better players and win more.

Once they allowed rich owners to distort the market they could hardly stop dodgy used car salesman types from stepping in - perhaps it was a little odd that people who would be banned from opening a business were given the keys to the hearts of communities, but once they had been then why not Abramovich? And if him why not Abu Dhabi? And if them then surely there was noone alive who thought that a line would be drawn before the Saudis.

Interesting that the details have to be kept secret from the public though, I guess the deal is just so honest and above board that it risks embarrassing other industries.

Taylor so blatantly let ronaldo off at the 45th min (it wasn't even lenient it was I'm supposed to be in your pocket) and then liverpool punted in the fourth in added time, this is the beginning of Ronaldo's fall from grace and I'm all here for it.

Ronaldo goal in e.t against Atalanta Lord have mercy, absolute garbage performance by Utd then ping, couldn’t have hit the ball better

Scholes is pissed, red face seething dry Mancunian tones, pundits are generally cunts but Scholes is a no-bs type and I respect that even in the English

Didn't watch the game, I was out - playing football in fact - but I'm just amazed by his record. How does he keep doing it? This is mot a vintage Utd and it's not set up just for him to score, you know what I mean, it's not built around him as other teams have been, yet he just keeps scoring and scoring and scoring. League, Champions League whatever, it's extraordinary.
How many has he got since rejoining Utd? What's his Champ League total? Just unbelievable numbers.

He's got 135 CL goals apparently, Messi 120... in third place is Lewandowski with 73 or something. I honestly think CRon will add more to his total than Messi, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's gonna be a while before anyone catches either of them... although Haaland is off to a good start I guess.

Of the 47 sports fans who watched a two-minute clip of the World Cup TV broadcast, 70 percent said that Senegal, whose players were all Black, was “more athletic or quick.” But of 58 others who saw an animation of the same two minutes without knowing which teams they were watching, 62 percent picked Poland, whose players were all white, as the more athletic side. The physical advantages that supposedly defined the African team’s style of play disappeared as soon as their skin color did.

As Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku, who is Black, told The New York Times, “It is never about my skill when I am compared to other strikers.”
That is definitely bullshit, every time people mention Lukaku they discuss his skill in amazement "How is it possible for a 100 million pound striker to have such shit touch and inability to control the ball?" - he should be glad when people focus on his other attributes.

But I take the general point, I remember watching Japan v Russia and they kept talking about whether the Japanese would struggle against the bigger guys - until someone pointed out their average height was slightly above that of the Russians.

I guess ge will get a bit more leeway than Koeman but what can he do really?
I have a feeling that that was Solskaejr's last game.

I saw a thing the other day where it had a list of four targets he was demanding if he were to take the job. The first two were Haaland and Pogba, surely that's not possible for them?

Oh and Olmo is he called? Very tidy looking midfielder who came through the Barca system but chose to move away to further his career. He seems more realistic in that I think there was always a sort of understanding he would return one day, like Fabregas I guess.
