Did you guys catch this? Text version of Simon's talk, plus extra notes on gender, drugs, race, technology that he didn't have time to address.

see thats why i wanted to do this event - surely there is so much out there associated with the continuum that the man himself never said or meant to imply.
anyway i also wanted to do it so people could ask questions to him directly and have a (heated) discussion rather than an internet...
hmm, so if i changed the thread title to 'High quality video of Simon Reynolds discussing something directly that has sparked 20 pages of interesting comments already - for free, for all to discuss' - would that help?
I'm not sure why this was moved this to the events section... considering the other thread was 20 pages long I thought it was a way of focussing that discussion a bit better. Well I guess then I will move the discussion BACK to the 20 page thread... :)

Before we go much further here, I will try to get the video up by mid next week so you can see what Simon had to say about it - he addressed some of the grumbling about the continuum. We didn't have much time for Q&A afterwards which was a shame so maybe once I post the video I can try to twist...
sorry to bump this but FYI there are only a few tickets left, so if you want to come along, better get booking or be disappointed... http://www.picturehouses.co.uk
Exciting stuff - as a lead up to the event, The Wire is featuring an online exclusive where Simon reaches into the archives and pulls together 7 articles about then-emerging 'hardcore continuum' genres, with a new introduction. Just posted on http://www.thewire.co.uk!
Check out the...
Hey the continuum isn't all London these days - bassline?! But as to whether bassline *should* be part of the continuum (and nevermind the fact that Liverpool isn't exactly the center of the bassline universe), come and argue with Simon. :)
