films you've seen recently and would NOT recommend

I find all of Terrence Malick's films to be deeply flawed yet I love them all I enjoyed Tree of Life immensely though I could do without Sean Penn in any film thanks and the ending didn't sit well with me

    planet of the apes

I love planet of the apes I went through a resurgent period a few years back of watching the video collection back to back, awesome I really hated the Tim Burton film mind Seen the new one recently and I really liked it, on it's own terms of course. I wouldn't place it up there with the classics

rolling back to the future garage/post-dubstep/alt-funkstep/intelli-2step etc thread

someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but as I understand it the trap is like the street corner or whatever where drug deals are carried out Trap rap could be defined as music made to compliment such situations Although as said I wouldn't classify the Clipse as trap rap even though all...

    Should I be ashamed?

the original is awesome, it's funny I've been heavily listening to that Deftones album 'Diamond eyes' and I feel like I should be somewhat ashamed because I stopped listening to mainstream metal a long time ago. Feels good though :D

    Soft Rock

Not tongue in cheek at all unfortunately I find my favourite tracks are the one's recorded by the big prog groups when they reached the 'downturn' in their careers and 'sold out'. Oh the utter joy of overly-proficient musicians turning it down a dial and chucking out 3 1/2 min pop joy Give...

4 Stars (or: The reviewing of art vs. the art of reviewing)

I was pointed towards a recent Terrorizer article in which they previewed the most recent Morbid Angel album. Now this album is beyond terrible and has been universally panned. In this preview they gave glowing praise and made all the bad points of the album seem good ie the quotes I used...

4 Stars (or: The reviewing of art vs. the art of reviewing)

I used to read Terrorizer magazine avidly as a youngster but stopped when I noticed previews of upcoming albums were basically paid-for press releases, writing such as 'will divide opinions' and 'this band doesn't follow the rules' usually meant that the reviewer hated the album but was not...

rolling back to the future garage/post-dubstep/alt-funkstep/intelli-2step etc thread

I'm sure the main thing Lex brought to the table (which has been discussed on here) is the uber-clipping, obviously drum distortion has been used before but not in this context (as far as I am aware)

rolling back to the future garage/post-dubstep/alt-funkstep/intelli-2step etc thread

SX sounds the most trap influenced to me funny cos kids round here into the latest trap-influenced post-dubstep whatever think the influence comes from El-B for some reason but then again there are a lot of DJ's round these parts that play a load of future garage yet hate anything with a hint...
