i kinda gathered that...but i interpret the question to go beyond that...ive heard this one before on other boards...it usually means "well, it's fine to criticize, but if you dont have a better plan, you should shut up now"...if that isnt what the question implied, then i apologize i guess in...

    Iraq

even beyond that, jazz, they are trying to bring some "stability" to the area so as to make it more attractive to foreign investors and let the rape of resources begin in earnest...and, yeah, it's disgusting

    what are you reading now?

Robin...i read the Russell back in my school days...it is a VERY good place to start for someone with not much in the way of prior knowledge of philosophy...it does assume SOME prior knowledge in that you have to know what phrases like a priori mean, etc....but not much...very readable

well, quitting a blog is nothing out of the ordinary...but when someone also just deletes it entirely--archives and all--it usually signifies a fit of rage, frustration, depression, etc.... too bad...he is a great writer...can say more in a single paragraph than most

i think the US is bound to respond aggressively anyway, whether it's called for or not...they almost HAVE to for the reasons you stated...i hear what you are saying on the Pakistani nuke program, and im not about to celebrate anytime a nation-state arms itself with nukes...im still uncomfortable...

not clear here, Oliver....are you saying you'd be happy with the US and Israel considering a preemptive strike, or happy if they actually carried it out in the event of Iran achieving nuke capability? if the latter, that is a very provacative stance...personally, i find it difficult to...

    what if he wins?

yeah, id like to add in my own defence that i didnt say the two candidates were indentical...not my argument...i said there was little to choose from in terms of foreign policy...and Kerry really isnt proposing much in that area except getting other countries more directly involved so the US...

    what if he wins?

i think it's important to remember, though, that it really isnt all that important who wins...Kerry is basically just a Bush-lite (at least in terms of foreign policy)...the corporate agenda WILL proceed, no matter who wins...if Kerry does win, it will just be more subtle, insidious and wear a...
