    Cosmetic Surgery

even when I dress myself, generally I have a "style" but some days it's a blazer and trousers and some days its a jumper and jeans, depending how I feel and want to present. It's all malleable so why shouldn't our faces and bodies match our identities now?

    Cosmetic Surgery

it's an extension of our emotional/mental selves, I reckon. Your identity as a person is never fixed - I'm not the same person at work as I am with my friends nor my family, so why shouldn't I change my physical appearance if I'm already constantly editing and presenting versions of myself as a...

Tinashe does music videos really well I think - the budgets are obviously limited but the creativity and her star presence are so captivating

I don't mind that but mostly because I associate it with Missy Elliott who invented performance art

    Watching music videos for hours

I hate the trend for "event" music videos where they break up the song and visuals for some spoken word nonsense to advance the "plot" along. Just do all that stuff at the start and finish, or just not at all, please.

Girlfriends' opening theme and credits are amazing though, even seeing the word gets the song stuck in my head

uk comedy is in a nadir

I wouldn't say I disliked it, but it's a very odd show. It feels like nobody is meant to be likeable and their flaws are what make them interesting, watchable characters - but in a different way to normal sitcoms. It's not like you're wanting anyone to succeed in their goals because they're all...

uk comedy is in a nadir

it wasn't even that, although it was wretched in itself. It was when the show abandoned all pretence of being realistic, replacing the biting-but-loving barbs between the characters with physical comedy, a Halloween episode which was particularly arduous to endure

uk comedy is in a nadir

Girlfriends is astonishing, what if Sex And The City but it's all black women, and instead of being fashionable and enviable they're all shrill and bitchy and unlikeable, and what if even though the show is about women and sisterhood we still insist on having a fucking man in the opening cast...

    Cosmetic Surgery

even if I ended up botched I would still be happy because it would tell the world that I was successful enough to afford multiple surgeries and not have to worry about the consequences beyond ending up in some tabloid photo articles about bad surgery

uk comedy is in a nadir

Sister Sister is really odd because Jackee Harry has incredible comic timing and the character of Lisa Landry is a gift, but the rest of the show is abysmal, truly some of the worst "comedy" ever made.

uk comedy is in a nadir

Moesha was excellent, right up until the last season and a very particular episode four or five in where it suddenly becomes very, very bad. Brandy and Countess Vaughn are fantastic and Sheryl Lee Ralph does amazing things with a one-note character. (tell me you wasted time in lockdown without...

if I could afford it I would have so much plastic surgery - not that I dislike myself but I would like myself more

I was always annoyed by eg transphobic jokes in Friends, it's just that in 1997 I had no way of being heard, whereas now I can tweet asking why this was accepted.

Never going back to the office

started a new job last week, on paper at least. The actual training etc begins tomorrow. First time doing an "office" job. The plan is to learn everything from home then go into a hybrid model splitting the week between home and the building. This isn't because of the pandemic, this was always...

Decent house/electronic remixes of major label singles

also came with a Sharp hard house mix (that needs pitched up), you have to wonder who in the office was really keen on big dance mixes

Decent house/electronic remixes of major label singles

I bought that on CD single for the remixes for about 50p last year and it has been a total gem for me - it's really easy to bring into a mix and when the bass comes in it sounds incredible
