    Kwaito resources?

I find this hilarious. :) Did you find the volume of people's speech substantially louder too?

Cooking tips and wonderful flavour combinations

We went to Hong Kong's three-Michelin-star Italian, Otto e Mezzo, last week or so. Amazing. Went to a bib gourmand Indian tonight (Bombay Dreams) and the head chef of said Italian was sat at the table opposite, bottle of wine chilling by his side and the table covered in kebabs etc. Good sign...

    Where to start with Swans

It's not a fashionable view apparently but I think most Swans is charlatanry, and the only album I like is 'The Burning World'. This is probably because it has some nice tunes and good arrangements full of Bill Laswell's friends, all of whom are musicians. Also I heard this guy Gira likes to...

    what are you reading now?

Dispatches is a classic of sorts (and part of the inspiration for Full Metal Jacket) but I vastly prefer the stories of Thom Jones (some set in Vietnam) and also Sympathy for the Devil by Kent Anderson. No one should miss Thom Jones.

The wit & wisdom of Frankie Boyle

That's an assumption, and not a very nice one. Is waterboarding a style of torture more suited to those partial to swimming a few lengths of a Saturday morning?

The wit & wisdom of Frankie Boyle

Also people who find this Lee guy funny have a completely distinct sense of humour from my own.

The wit & wisdom of Frankie Boyle

Could give a shit about this guy but I read in The Guardian that his favourite book is 'The Book of the New Sun' by Gene Wolfe, which is also my favourite book.

Cooking tips and wonderful flavour combinations

Girlfriend now in her second fine-dining establishment, and its the best I've eaten in. Though she's turned her back on the gizmos to some extent (in favour of an almost fetishistic obsession with local, organic, and foraged produce served simply with a keen er... tongue for flavour), I still...

Yep, that. Plus Aeropress and the fucking scales. But unlike heroin there really is no chance of going back.

    Coffee

Was about to ask if any of those measure up against St Ali, then realised that Workshop is the new(ish) name for St Ali. It's really good. As you were.

Morton Feldman – Crippled Symmetry: at June in Buffalo

Have been relistening to that one over the past couple of days. Basically any Feldman involving Aki Takahashi has to be heard, and the recording in question is especially poignant as it's the premiere of Feldman's final composition and, as I understand it, he was in attendance.

Morton Feldman – Crippled Symmetry: at June in Buffalo

Five-star review in The Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2012/aug/15/feldman-crippled-symmetry-review?CMP=twt_fd To say I'm chuffed would be an understatement of epic proportions.

How has burial dated for you?

Nice to see that kind of loyalty to an artist in these fickle times.
