    things you have noticed.

Some bloke used to walk 'round Sainsburys in Camden BELLOWING at the top of his lungs "The best of luck! The best of luck!" Just another soothing facet of life in Camden.

who are you going to vote for and why?

Well, David Amess says he's going to put the great back into Great Britain. Whilst this is a bold election promise it is one that I have heard before and is not really one that addresses my concerns this time around. Still, all the old biddies round here will return him anyway and no-one is...

The Native Hipsters- There Goes Concorde Again

When I first heard it I thought it was Dawn French circa "Girls on Top".

    Mrs Watson:an announcement

Thankyou for your kind words. I've got that Bassnation mix and will give it a go. Haven't got the teletubbies record but have a strong sense she will come to know and love it.

    Mrs Watson:an announcement

Mrs Watson gave birth to a 9lb 3oz baby girl last Sunday. The child's name is Molly. I am thinking about what the first song to assail her ears should be and welcome suggestions.

    Oooh you handsome devil!

Axl Rose was a striking young man and I hated the band but Sebastian Bach of Skid Row too. Skid Row were responsible for the worst night of my life  Futile to deny that these things count when bands are establishing themselves and there is a clear distinction between looks and charisma.

What is so Good About that Pop Music Thread?

Why on earth would you close an active thread if people are still continuing discussion? It hasn't degenerated into abuse or vitriol. Can't believe I'm saying this here but if you don't want to read it, if it is going over your head (and I'll admit most of it makes my ears bleed), then DON'T.

    Soul Jazz Records

Well, I'll only talk about what I own but; Universal Sounds of America; Philadelphia Roots; New Orleans Funk; Saturday Night Fish Fry; ESG:South Bronx Story; Jackie Mittoo:Keyboard King at Studio One and; Studio One Story all had good sleeve notes. Studio One Story also came with a 2hr...

    Soul Jazz Records

Is it fair to say they only re-issue Studio One for the reggae comps? I'm a fan of theirs, mostly for the breadth of stuff they issue. When they are portraying a scene at a particular time they pull in the big names/tunes but also draw in more obscure stuff to show that there might be more...

"urban:" explain the arguments against it...

Mostly Japanese instruments I would say ;) Perhaps this could be a bold new direction for MOJO :) On a more serious note, isn't most of this music is still consumed (in the UK) in the suburbs?

    Walkman chic

I've been happily using a sony minidisc player for the last 3.5yrs with no problems and I never had a walkman that lasted as long. It's a good format but it was introduced too close to CD to take off in the pre-recorded market.

Rastafarianism, Dancehall & Intellectual Property Rights

I don't think I'm deviating too much from thread but an equally interesting question is why there were no IP laws in place prior to independence? It's relevant because the recent moves to change have been delayed in part by inertia. Perhaps racist colonial assumptions regarding the ability of...
