    Dubstep

new ikonika on hyperdub is awesome. thought please was good but a bit too rigid, but this is just overflowing with aweomse little side melodies and rhytmic trickeries. I also like it that her and zomby aren't scared of half step.

Producers: presets or four days perfecting a snare?

nah i don't think this is true. Things can take far longer than that, and even when they don't, it's all about the editing of the track, the cutting, snipping and changing. That's what takes the most time and is what makes something great I reckon.

    zomby - where were u in 92?

heard it said that that was true.

    Dubstep

Fair enough, its all opinions i guess but I always think dubstep is insanely danceable, more than you would think on first listen.

    Dubstep

Not what I meant at all. Jungle was funky without being obvious and so was the best end of dubstep.

    Dubstep

Touche sir! Substitue europe with european house community or whatever you want to call it. Shonx, come on, dubstep not dancing music? This sounds a little like retrospectice distacing from the genre. Fair enough, its not as obviously dancy as jungle or 2-step or house, but the very un-obvious...

    How does PITCHFORK work?

Amen to that. Pitchfork are ok. Some of it pisses me off admittedly, but really I do value certain reviewers opinions on certain albums. I am guilty of doing that thing though where you click on a review and go "oh only 5.8? Probably won't read the review then."

Producers: presets or four days perfecting a snare?

People might shoot me down for this, but do you not think Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano a few years ago were exploring some fairly new territory in sound design? Maybe this was because I was young at the time but it seemed to me then minimal was coming with plenty of wtf moments.

Producers: presets or four days perfecting a snare?

Of course, and i'd never advocate being lazy about production. I guess all i'm saying is that with producing I can often focus in on something tiny and then lose sight of the bigger picture, and it seems like some people do that too who have far more releases than me. On a totally off topic...

    Dubstep

that zomby set is just completely out of this world. So so good. Dubstep allied itself with european stuff far too much for my liking. 2562 is kind of like the ultimate dub techno producer's producer, but i never really got any emotion connection to his tunes. Peverelist is the only one for me...

Producers: presets or four days perfecting a snare?

It can be both elgato, and don't get me wrong, i'd rather hear some amazingly soulful synth sound than just anothe rhodes organ used to denote deepness (nothing really against rhodes), but I do think that over emphasis on one comes at the expense of the other usually.
