    Roiling football blather

We bought Dutch international dreamboat striker Ricky van Wolfswinkle (WHAT a name) from Sporting Lisbon, and midfielder Leroy Fer from Twente, who I'm pretty excited about. Also Martin Olsson from Blackburn and Nathan Redmond from Birmingham, who looks a good prospect. And Gary Hooper, a...

    Roiling football blather

wtf? In a league where Ian Holloway, Mark Hughes and Paolo di Canio manage teams, you think we will go down? In all seriousness, we've bought some really good players this summer. We're loads better than we were, which was easy good enough to stay up, late nerves notwithstanding. Palace...

    Dwain Chambers

I really hate all the pious criticism of Ohuruogu for missing some tests (this sort of crap http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/world-championships-christine-ohuruogu-will-never-fully-loved-080404262.html). "Just because Ohuruogu’s story appears to add up doesn’t mean we should necessarily excuse...

    Ashes 2013

The last test was pretty low quality all round. England's batting was poor, with some honourable exceptions (Root and Bell) and Australia were awful. I'll definitely lose interest at 3-0, though it may come back at 4-0 with one to play.

    Ashes 2013

It's taken me a while but I'm excited now. I predict 3-1 to England. Anyone else interested? Edit: I couldn't open the 2009 thread when I posted the above for some reason but I can now. Here's what I wrote at the start of that. All Hail Nostradamus! All questions bar number 2 still apply...

    Rolling travel thread

The North Norfolk coast- Wells-next-the-sea, Holcombe - is beautiful. My favourite is Burnham Ovary Staithe, which is more than just a great name. The beach is flat and goes out for miles. There's a real edge of the world feel just before the sun goes down. Also Norfolk has really good beers...

I went the other night. There was some jackin', some nonsense glitchy sub Rustie something or other, some weird ambient stuff by Koreless and then I went home because I am old and have to work in the morning. Artwerk and Zinc were on later I think. EZ's on in a couple of weeks! Hadn't been to...

I own it, really like it, and want to listen to it quite a lot. Though my listening patterns have been set for a couple of years now - get something new, love it, rinse it, never listen to it again.

    Buying A House

Don't tell them about the lodgers. Also, there's a tax thing whereby if you're renting out a spare room cheaply (like less than 4k pa) there's no tax to pay. Here - https://www.gov.uk/rent-room-in-your-home/the-rent-a-room-scheme
