I've been a huge techno animal fan for years and I was more excited than most about the bug lp but for me it's all about bombs.beats, bass, weapons... most of the other tracks on the lp I could quite happily do without. Have you heard his T Raumschire (?) Robauken Disko (?) remix? Well worth...
no no no no no no... I'm sorry but I can't wear this... it does have the same "bouncing ball" quality as the end of the bass pattern in "flat beat" but oizo ( as f*&king amazing as he is) definately didn't invent that concept. and even if the film clip had a puppet as cute & crazy as flat...
a shirt in a second hand shop the other day that read "stop clubbing baby seals"... underneath it was a picture of seals and girls on a disco style dancefloor and under that "they stink of fish and they can't dance"
hah! yeah it's not one of his finer moments... very flat & monotonous. That's the only version i've heard though. I'll have to try and track down a better vocal. I'm still not sure about those fluttery little noises over the top but it's a great bassline.
I've really lost touch with grime and dubstep in the last 12 months so I can't comment on whether or not originality & creativity is on the decrease but I think generally what you're saying is true and I'm sure eventually the same thing will happen with grime and then another offshoot will...
You mean the "Crown Jugglaz" one? It's good innit! but (and I've been whining about this elsewhere) DR EVIL totally ruins it for me  to the point where I'm tempted to edit and re-burn it! I hate being a hater!!!
bass is the place
maybe this is a stupid question...
do any of you know the shockwave riddim? (sean paul - dem a fraud)... I love the crazy bouncing ball analogue basslines...sounds like something from a dubstep or d&b track, but the rest of the production is kind of weak.
It almost works...
p.s. anyone wanna reccomend some similar mixes or maybe some darker proto-grime stuff? I've always been curious about what audio gems from this scene I missed out on. This subtek guy seemed to be pretty well up on it considering he's american but then he's one of the peeps repping grime...
I downloaded this mix 2 or three years ago and was tangentially reminded of it by the el-b thread. Never had much exposure to 2 step and garage before I got into grime. anyway... this is a tight, dope mix of some social circles tracks (sticky's label) w donaeo mc, mc tubby t (?) some soulful...
better late than never I guess but I've been listening to most of these for years. I really hope it gets to the stage where tracks start making it to comps faster. what the f*ck happened to lady stush anyway? That was such a great track & her vocals were so cute.
ooh ooh ooh!!!! I gotta hear this!!! I love mr oizo.. but what are your thoughts on the "moustache half a scissor" or whatever it was called? I listened to it quickly in a record store and it didn't appeal to me at all but I got the feeling it might be a grower... anyone given this a good listen?
I know that it's BIG even at the pop chart / mtv level & has been for years but as artists go the only one I know of is SEED. Does anyone know if they ever released a version/instrumental of the riddim from that "dickes b" track ? It's a little crazy but it's so damn phat!
thanks peeps... lots...
What's got your head nodding / toes tappin' / mind blowing / jeep bouncing / pelvis thrusting etc in music lately... any releases coming up you're waiting on with baited breath? anything you've picked up lately (new or old) that's really doing it for you at the moment?
Personally I'm mildly...
