Lots of hoopla lately about his 100th birthday. I've never investigated Sun Ra, back catalog is too overwhelming...any suggestions of a few good albums to track down? I'm less interested in the noisy/free jazz stuff, more into the quieter/cooler albums. Appreciate the help.

I need some good offsite computer backup suggestions. Lots of options out there, shying away from iCloud because Apple already has a little too much of a lock on me already (Mac, iPhone). Free is nice but willing to pay.

is it ok nowadays to say you like muslimgauze? some of the recent reissues are pretty decent, "drugsherpa" in particular has a real shackleton vibe, 20-years ahead of his time. he took some harsh anti-israeli positions, but does that matter?

lots of strummer interviews, he seemed like a really good guy. reminds me of how much they (and a lot of other punk bands at the time) changed in such a short amount of time, only a couple of years between "white riot" and "london calling".
