    avant-classical massif!

Heard it when it came out. It's nice, but it only came out on CD, which is IMHO a terrible format for this kind of music. La Monte Young! Or Early Charlemagne Palestine for a more cheeky and honest take ;) Oh... I guess you must be into Stephen Scott, right?

Maybe time to check La Monte Young again if ever too ;) The WellTuned Piano 5XLP probably is my favorite piece of piano music ever.

    avant-classical massif!

Hmmm.. Sorry, but Dervishes is IMHO his most overrated. I own every single LP and love them all, but Dervishes is just not that special and orignal. One great LP people forget to check is the chinese version of In C, with chinese traditional orchestra and instruments, supervised by Riley...

The Harvey Piece I was thinking about is on this : http://www.discogs.com/Hugues-Dufourt-Jonathan-Harvey-G%C3%A9rard-Grisey-Antiphysis-Mortuos-Plango-Vivos-Voco-Modulations/release/1313676 It should convince you as it is way different from what you heard. Ritual Melodies is also a big fave...

    Magazines

Kof kof *Wire* Kof kof... Although I don't buy it anymore, I still find it to be one of the few mags where music has ever been subjected to proper journalism. I read french mags, but also FTimes (the WE edition), Alan Moore's Dodgem Logic

Got the Latest Jim Woodring GN a month or so ago, Manhog. Greatness! I like Scalped too but prefer his previous The Otherside mini. Currently enjoying all Batman/Grant Morrison, Turf, Captain America by Brubaker, Hellblazer (Millgan brings the best run in years!), BPRD and a few other odd ends

    Sarko Wins

Well. It is serious, really serious. And Sarkozy is now a joke in France with more than 70% of population against his policies/disatisfied by him. His politics have been disastrous as in mindblowingly egoistic. Woerth (labour minister) who's now at the center of the scandals (many frauds...

    avant-classical massif!

You must be into Gérard Grisey I guess... Also some Jonathan Harvey is mindblowing : the bell/choir boy track he did at IRCAM in late 70ies/early 80ies is brilliant.

    The Mount Kimbie album

Back on topic, I got the same vibe from this LP : One really nice track for home listening (but not as nice as the first EP) and a big meh for the rest. Much more digging the Actress LP. Great versatile stuff on it, and it surpases the EPs he's released so far.

    avant-classical massif!

Depends. If those were on picture wax, I'd buy them in the instant! James Tenney is dope! Organ work? Roland Kayn!!! Absolute master of the dark experimental electric organ. He used to be in Il Gruppo di Improvizazione Nuevo Consonanza along Macchi, Morricone and other geniuses... Ákos Rózman...

    avant-classical massif!

IMHO, Shri Camel is the absolute Riley recording, along maybe the vinyl pressing of Reed Streams and A Rainbow in Curved Air. Bengt Hambraeus is one of the least interesting swedish composers. Look for Ragnar Grippe, Lars Gunnar Bodin, Ákos Rózmann, Åke Parmerud, Bengt Emil Johnson or Leo Nilson...
