    sex noises and electronic music

I'm think Venetian Snares did this with the Praxis lady (Hecate, maybe?) that he was seeing--no I didn't hear it.

Theodore Sturgeon He had a bunch, but def start with More Than Human and unfortunately titled The Cosmic Rape. I also second The Space Merchants which is just ridiculously well done.

    Black Devil Disco Club

I think vinyl EP has slightly different tracks than the CDS too. It's got 4, I believe (not at home can't check sorry) and no Kerrier District remix.

Okay I count at least 9 or 10 pretty classic 12"s or EPs from pre-96 that I've heard (the two fusion-y ones "Sovereign Melody" and "Deep Love", "You Don't Know/Warrior", the Bert collab "Lionheart/Art of Control", "Muthafucka/Sky", "Tear Down Da Whole Place/Brutal Bass", "Angels Fell" EP, the...

Um actually between the stuff that Dillinja released under his various alias (Capone, Trinity, Dillinjah, Dillinger, Cybotron) and collabs and remixes yeah he was pretty prolific in his prime. Admittedly none of that was presented in a handy CD compilation, but if it had of been well I am sure...

Of course, Lady Sov and M.I.A. been releasing stuff for about a year now whereas Squarepusher has amassed his 4 good songs over the course of nearly a decade. Not to mention the fact that either of the former's "good" songs is about a million times better than Squarepusher's best song.

    Pitchfork reviews Run the Road

Do you mean the "Gangsta Kid", "Original Gangsta", etc, samples, Jess? Cuz I swear I always thought those were skits that Gunsmoke and Shy FX did?

Lady Sovereign - the Grime test

Frankly, I have no idea what you are talking about. Who cares if she's part of the "grime scene" or if she'd recorded "Ch Ching" over warmed over mariachi music instead? She's released the singles she released and critics and fans (most of whom are at least passingly familiar with OTHER stuff...

Lady Sovereign - the Grime test

No, but those Lil' Jon tracks could very well be "crunk-y". Unless you don't think "Yeah" is at all crunk in which case well that's craziness. This what is "real grime" tip you are on makes no sense though. Who gives a shit if something is authentic or not? "Fake"/pop/crass crossover stuff...

Lady Sovereign - the Grime test

Um do you know what it's like? Cuz this sounds like it's straight from some broadsheet on "realness" of grime to me. I can see why people in the grime "scene" are annoyed by her success (obv I don't agree with them, I think "Ch Ching" is great and I don't care whether it's just a great grime...

Exclusive dancehall set from the bug and warrior queen

Does anyone know when the Rephlex comp of the Bug/Rootman Razor X stuff (Killing Sound) is supposed to come out? They've move it back two or three times (I think it was originally supposed to come out last August) and now it seems to be in complete limbo. What's the story?

    cyberreggae.com?

Ooh this looks nice. Their definition of reggae is pretty broad haha, but I can dig it, I guess (there are definitely some jungle tracks which I would love to have as a full length in a high bitrate mp3 rather than the iffy sounding vinyl rip I got currently!)

Like the dollar is gonna be strong enough in five years time for Americans to be able to afford to buy anything haha.

just how bloody brilliant is jah cure...

Wait, the guy who sang "Let Jah Be Praised" on the first Blackstar album is a convicted rapist?!?! Jeez that's gonna totally color how I think about that track. . .

    Congo Natty/Blackstar/Ras Project/Rebel MC/etc

Yeah, Kemet Crew (or at least Mark X--haha GIVEAWAY) were Nation of Islam. There is little bit in the notes of Champion Jungle Sound alluding to that fact and encouraging people to learn more, etc. That album is super-underrated though. The fact that it was apparently virtually ignored upon...

    Favourite Grime MCs.

Yeah, I was asking a friend from London about gun violence and murder rates and he said there weren't as many guns or anywhere near as much killing, but that ASSAULTS and just random fisticuffs were a lot more common.

    Congo Natty/Blackstar/Ras Project/Rebel MC/etc

So reading the 10th anniversary thing of Knowledge (don't bother) and finally found a cheap copy of State of Bass on eBay and struck yet again by the virtual non-presence of Michael West's (I think that's his name) various projects. Was this guy not as crucial to hip-house, breakbeat hardcore...
