Loefah - 'Jazzlick' on Big Apple (RIP!)

I was just putting together a list of records that I need to buy, and this is one which I am now kicking myself for passing on when it first came out. Truly heavyweight press! Does anybody know if this is available anywhere? I have tried most of the major online UK record stores but none have...

General Degree - "Pot Cover" - Is anything else like this??

For years now one of my secret weapons in the record box has been a fantastically strange old dancehall tune by General Degree called "Pot Cover" which is on the 400% Dynamite compilation on Soul Jazz. It's got a double-time beat and infectious bass with strange sounds on top that sound...

    > Ryan17: can you help me out a bit by suggesting some tracks or artists? even if it is a bit shit. I think "Time for the Percolator" is probably the definitive Baltimore Club track...

    r n' b tracks that need reediting/dub versioning

This one got a really good roots reggae rework, called the "Jamma Remix" I think. They have it streaming here. My vote for this would be Aaliyah "We Need a Resolution"

Forward Riddim Played on Hot 97 in New York

nah man, they play dancehall non-stop on hip hop radio. the surprising thing is that they played GRIME on u.s. hip hop radio, and basically set it up as this hot new alien sound from urban london. since commercial hip hop radio has earned a reputation for being rather insular, it surprised me...

Forward Riddim Played on Hot 97 in New York

That might be it. But it seemed like there was a UK MC first, then a dancehall MC (probably Cham) at the end.

So who on this board is in the states or canada?

a/ Dominic... I would've agreed with you about grime staying confined to middle-class / collegiate venues before today, but they just played Forward Riddim during Cipha Saturdays on Hot 97, so not I'm not so sure. Cipha always pushes the new shit, so it seems like something might be brewing...

Forward Riddim Played on Hot 97 in New York

Something very big and very surprising just happened on the radio. Cipha Sound, the heir apparent to Funkmaster Flex on Hot 97 fm in New York City (the biggest hip hop station in the city) just played the Forward Riddim during his Saturday prime time slot. I'm actually not sure which version it...
