    Best synth sound ever

I don't know about 'ever', but this is certainly my favourite of recent times. Lots of great noises in this, especially from around 2.50 onwards where the really squizzy bit comes in. Headphones recommended, computer speakers don't really do it justice. And yes, 'Com Truise' is a terrible name.

    Unfortunate names

If you check back to Hucks' original post, he refers to a friend whose family collects the silly names. That friend was (and still is) me. My parents maintain a silly names list to this day, it stretches into the thousands at last count. I'm visiting them at Christmas so will try to transcribe...

    Roiling football blather

It was like an Arsenal vs Stoke match, with Spain as Arsenal and England as Stoke. Not a brilliant analogy, but what I mean is Spain were very attractive and polished but wanted to score the perfect goal (and ultimately didn't), whereas England defended stubbornly (employing the seldom used...

    K-Pop

A 2-page thread? Pah, Popjustice has a whole damn sub-forum for K-Pop which is bewilderingly exhaustive (1437 pages just on general K-Pop discussion, let alone individual artist threads). I haven't read it, mind, but Popjustice is very well informed in its chosen fields. Probably worth a look...

Rolling (though slowly, I'd imagine) Gaming Thread

I've not played Heavy Rain but I did play Fahrenheit, which is by the same people and very much its spiritual predecessor. All the same criticisms apply. I did like the idea of each action being irreversible (i.e. you can choose to save (or not) a drowning child which affects your status with...

Visiting London - Record store recommendations

Probably not what you're hoping to hear but this is entirely accurate. The days of garage getting pressed to vinyl (be it originals, bootlegs or represses) are long since gone - you'll still get dubstep and the various 'post-' mutations thereof on vinyl but yer actual garage is extinct...

questions you are dying to ask but are too scared to b/c of music nerd cred?

Ambiguity - I think if you are promoting a night that will stick to one style then it inevitably does appear on the flyer, usually with extraneous adjectives, e.g. "funky sexy groovy house" (for which read: David Guetta and whatever's on the latest Hed Kandi CD) or "filthy dirty mum-raping...

Are You An Artiste? A multiple choice questionnaire.

    This was my favourite one.

    what you currently enjoying ?

I think I posted this in the R&B thread a while back but it deserves more widespread acclaim. It's nigh-on unbelievably stupid, but also excellent, and I keep singing it to myself, often at inopportune moments (i.e. within earshot of girls). It's not on Youtube so you will need to click on the...

Pointless But It Makes Me Chuckle to Myself

Walked past a couple at a bus stop this morning. The lady was quite vigorously pulling clumps of eyebrow from the man's face. He didn't seem to mind, either. Both smartly-dressed, presumably City-bound.

    Unfortunate names

I was press-ganged into helping with data entry at work today, which allowed me to discover the following people, all of whom own/manage car dealerships: Nick Spang Chris Bis Paul Bourgeois Bob Mycock I love Paul Bourgeois, that's marvellous. You have to give props to Christopher Bis for...

Can't insert CD in Macbook Pro

No idea why it won't let you insert a CD. But to make absolutely sure there isn't a disc already in the drive, shut down, then keep the trackpad depressed as you press the power button to turn the Mac on - this will force the drive to eject any disc that might be in there. Another option is to...

    Paying for dissensus 2011

Bit tardy on this. Sufi - your PMs are full, so I'll ask here - is there any other way to pay than Paypal? I'll happily bung you a cheque or pay by bank transfer if possible.

Internet Service Provider / Broadband recommendations?

I have Virgin and like it, fast downloads (individual mp3s bordering on instant) and solidly reliable barring one major outage that lasted 18 hours. Otherwise nifty. You are pretty much obliged to have the TV, though - trying to get a package of just phone and broadband incurs surcharges for...

    Crap Towns

Ah, Hectic Squad. According to Grime Daily: The question is obviously rhetorical, but I fear that what the average person knows about 'Ips' is that it's home to Britain's fattest man and begat a serial killer of prostitutes. And that the football team once got a 9-0 dicking off Manchester...

    Crap Towns

Not seen this thread before so I feel obliged to rep my ends - Ipswich. I suppose it depends on whether you consider mediocrity to be worse than outright shit (I do, incidentally), but this is truly a town with no defining characteristics at all. It is the living embodiment of beige. There is...

    Beer And Beer Drinking

Thanks to all for the recommendations (Slothrop especially). 'Ale' let you know how I get on. (Unless one of you has stoved my head in with a pickaxe for pun crimes.)

Best External Hard Drive for Mac AND PC

My computer died horribly this morning. Mercifully I did manage to repair the hard drive this evening but I spent much of the day at work in a blind panic, fearing for the safety of my unrivalled-in-the-Northern-Hemisphere collection of crap mp3s. Ergo: I need to back my shit up. Therefore I...

    what you currently enjoying ?

I am currently listening to this. It is very silly but wholly loveable. The video is great, some fine hanging out and riding around on a flatbed. I haven't smoked pot in ages but I kinda fancy doing it with 151 Feva Gang, they're having such fun! (I could do without the albino python, but pffft...

    Beer And Beer Drinking

If anyone can point me in the direction of any of these (especially in London) I would be delighted. None of my local offies stock much apart from cooking lager (i.e. Fosters/Carling/Stella) and cheap wine, and the limited range of ales they do have are refrigerated to the point of...
