Pointless But It Does My Head In

They fell out of favour pretty quickly, so if it was bought in the 1980s or later, the system may have already been replaced

Are you feeling the recession (yet)?

Sixth forms are still waiting for details. Rumour has it we will face 4% per cent per year cuts in funding per student for the next 3 years. TES ran a piece last week that enrichment funding (tutorials, non-academic activities) is going to be slashed from about 130 hours/student/year to 30...

Pointless But It Does My Head In

Rather boringly, i think I might  I would guess they are a hangover from a replaced warm air heating system and the owner, rather than plaster over the gap left when it was replaced with radiators, thought it was an excellent opportunity to annoy anyone who ever lived in the house again.

    10 Digital Music Predictions

Ha! Luckily, I was sent the link so I don't have to dirty myself too much. Yeah, but at the same time, with the rise of Facebook, Iphone/Ipad, Android et al, many users of the Internet seem to be using it as a set of discreet walled gardens, so for younger people the Internet just becomes a...

Pointless But It Does My Head In

Actually houses are getting worse- average square footage has decreased for many new builds whilst number of bedrooms (which developers use as a key guide to price- estate agents use square footage) has gone up. We've just moved out of our Victorian terrace into a 1970s house and the difference...

    10 Digital Music Predictions

Quite an interesting piece on digital music here: http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=10&title=10_digital_music_predictions_for_2011&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1&recache Not sure I agree with the point about Spotify (who lost £17 million?) or with piracy (it's already flourishing, but has moved...

Rolling (though slowly, I'd imagine) Gaming Thread

I played a bit more than that before getting sucked in to other stuff. The world looks nice, but basically it is GTA in the wild west, which is starting to feel a little bit clunky nowadays. I did however, quite like the fact it could be boring if you wanted it to be

    RIP Leslie Nielsen

Put on Airplane as 'end of year treat' today at work (played to 16-18 year olds) Complete silence throughout, give or take the odd snort. It deserved better. Young people blah, blah

    Top 10 Records of 2010

Been completely out of the loop with music this year, but have really enjoyed listening to and would recommend (no order, apart from the first one, which is easily my most listened to record of the year): Alasdair Roberts & Friends- Too Long In This Condition Richard Skelton- Landings Ras...

^ Loving this game. Spawns are broken, but overall much more fun than MW2, though obviously less polished and slick. Grenades are deadly: <param name="allowScriptAccess"...

Beyond The Implode vs Uncarved Anarcho Punk Podcast

Awesome podcast (well at least the first half: Just as I was contemplating becoming a full time revolutionary...the in laws arrived, I had a cup of tea and calmed down. All the while a little voice whispering 'capitalist lackey, capitalist lackey'). You two on top form and suitably lacking in...

    Rob Young's Electric Eden

Well, after having picked this up and then being side-tracked by numerous other things, I have started to make headway into this book and very fine it is too, although the narrative that Mr Young tries to construct strains at times. But if you quickly pour water (mentally) on the points of...
