Was gonna say I think Wayne helped make that nasal voice the mainstream standard in rap But I'm probably fucking up the timeline - drake, big sean, wiz kalifah General lack of bassy voices in rap aside from Rick Ross

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

Alex Garland's 'Annihilation' is on Netflix and is well worth a watch. Has its flaws but full of interesting, disturbing and haunting ideas and images. Also, for luka, there's a psychedelic sequence which I reckon might somewhat replicate what people see on DMT.

    Choon of the Day

Because my friend linked me a Noisey article yesterday about it which made me feel very sad about my life - what it once was and is now. (In both cases, not much, but I definitely have lost that weekend glory aspect, and I forgot about the giddy euphoria of the ecstacy experience, of suddenly...

irresistible to bring up dubstep at this point ('deep medi' being mala's label - 'meditate on bass weight' etc.) dubstep was very eyes-down music, for some reason - the bass was something you wanted to be enclosed in (although i'm thinking of a specific strand of dubstep here, not so much the...

yeah i don't really care if music involves 'real' instruments or not otoh with e.g. jungle there's a difference in hearing a drum break, there's definitely a physicality to that sound, you can 'see' it being played by a drummer, and an urge i've always felt at least to air-drum along with an...

yes, the strut! it annoys me that i couldn't 'see' that mentally and wrote some vague balls about 'stiff and supple' the jump that i don't make is to picture the physical reaction to/and embodied in it

Listened to an interview with Eno recently - he was talking about how Tony Visconti never sits down in the studio, and that's where most producers go wrong, they sit down But I think what he meant was they get too relaxed and lazy about things

    This or That.

As I get older the more time I spend listening to music as I'm sitting or lying down. Walking is about as physically active as it gets most of the time. This probably explains why most of the time I listen to classical music these days, which doesn't tend to be designed for dancing, much less...
