Are you an owl or a lark?

I don't know. I think most people probably use it for pain relief. Masturbation releases endorphins (or something). Of course when you get really into it, it doesn't particularly matter what you're looking at: I mean on one hand it's of the utmost importance, but on the other it doesn't matter...

Are you an owl or a lark?

Definitely an owl - I mean, it seems acceptable to spend the whole night looking at pornography - but imagine doing that all day? Only a total loser would do that... That aside, there's nothing better than being up early of a morning, 6am or something (without hangover). And you can happily...

Holding everything together in your head

Yes, one would hope it'd be the other way, but it just gets weirder as you get older, doesn't it? Funny this thread came up, because I have this problem all the time, especially with music (I don't, for instance, think that films I like need to represent me/my politics/philosophy etc), so much...

    chomsky vs buckley

Actually totally forgot about it, but heard someone in the supermarket an hour ago talking about it - that was about fifteen mins before it was due to start, meaning no chance of getting in presumably. Met a few friends that were going down just after that though. I'm more excited about Zizek(!)...

    BNP on Question Time

There was an axiomatic consensus that immigration is a priori bad. I also note Warsi's freudian slip ('bad' instead of 'far' wasn't it?). Watching the programme confirmed that he shouldn't have been allowed onto it in the first place.

    social networking is killing society

I'm probably happiest online to be honest. Especially when it comes to the awkward business of getting to know people. I'm not sure if this is a good thing though. For instance, I've just started university, and my usual tactic has been to meet people, almost immediately ask if they're on...

All this talk of careers and practicality is rather depressing. I don't think kids aged 18 should be thinking about careers, really...

    Jonathon Meades

Most of them are absolutely brilliant. You just need to be handy with a dictionary whilst watching. He's sort of a hero of mine already. Amazing that he used to be on BBC2, isn't it?

Classes are pretty good. But as a first year undergrad at the age of 23, other first year students have come as a bit of a shock. Everyone seems so very, well... young. I didn't think the age difference was that much, but it really is. I imagine I'll get over it. Probably need to find more...

    giving up coffee

Interestingly ever since I did a massive weekend binge on meth over a year ago, a cup of coffee has me shaking and very anxious at least an hour after it, especially on an empty stomach. I still drink it though, I just make sure I don't need to do anything/see anyone for an hour or so...

    Music you are prejudiced against

But prejudice is important. I'm actually trying to encourage more prejudices. That way I can enjoy the music I like much more, without a mass of contradictions (I am overly concerned about why I'm listening to what I'm listening to, who it makes me and what it all means). When I only listened...

    Music you are prejudiced against

I second this list. Especially the third one, only because that affects me more than the others (except maybe indie), a lot of my friends are into it - I can't imagine such an insipid fetish. Most of it isn't bad music, but it's often the bland and tedious that proves more offensive to me...
