    Talk Talk

that bit in your blogariddim where you put Mark Hollis A life (1895-1915) over some sticky outdoor ambient noise is just incredible. I can't listen to that track now without hearing insects.

    Writing on London

On the London tip recently enjoyed Unlondon by China Mielville. Usually found in the Fantasy or even the Children's section of bookshops but deserves to be mixing it up with the usual London fraternity. Place next to the Borribles - which seems to act as Mielville's ur-text.

    BBC 2's 'White Season'

I think he's referring more to how despite all the public speak of multiculturalism and the information posters you mention, whiteness is still the normative understanding of British identity and history. And as with the BBC's white working-class debate being framed by its middle-class programme...

    Poor rich people

During the end of this festive season please pay a thought for the poor and needy… http://www.wmagazine.com/celebrities/2007/12/london_new_poor The article continues (not online): ‘We eat at the best restaurants and just bought a big vacation home. But, in the new London we’re ‘comfortably’...

    Boozeless cold remedies

this thread is fantastic. Thank you. One more bit of advice. Don't mistakenly take Daytime cold and flu remedy at night. It was only after five hours that I realised it was the 50mg of caffeine that was keeping me awake.:o

apology not accepted - off with her head

Yes off with her head and throw her to the lions, I find her unbearable. I hate all that cooler-than-thou smugness, the fact she went to meet the queen rather than do her show speaks volumes. She's the website designer's wet-dream, the Simon Bates for the 21st century.

CRICKET!! breaking news, gossip, lies, whatever etc..

That was an amazing game. I'd almost forgot about cricket this summer. Loads of amazing moments. Dimitri Mascarenhas (I always assumed he was Greek or something) made Alan Lamb's 24 off one over look pedestrian. He was just spooning them over by the end. There was one Sachin cover drive hit...

OPERA - breaking new, gossip, slander, lies etc.

So the big man has died. RIP. http://music.guardian.co.uk/classical/story/0,,2163325,00.html I always enjoyed hearing him as I love those jaunty Italian arias but I know for some proper buffs he was seen as very unadventurous. Did he ever do Wagner? Did he really play football? And what ever...

    Siobhan Donaghy-Ghosts...State your position.

Most of the album passed me by, the production seemed really unimaginative, but the title track, the last one is fantastic. This track and Mutya's Song 4 herself makes me think that the best Sugababes songs are now likely to come from its offshoots rather than the mother-band itself

    ch 4 yoof presenters

In a way I reckon Simon Amstell is to blame. People like Miquita Oliver have obviously tried to copy his take-the-piss-schtick but without the knowingness or wit. Why can't she be like more like her mum, Andrea Oliver, who always seems very charming and genuine on telly? Yeah a friend really...

    ch 4 yoof presenters

I met one of the producers of T4's Pop World few months back. Was alarmed/reassured at what a walking parody he was. Regular trips to the bar loo on a Tues night, ironic moustache, ubertrendy hat, name-drops. It must take serious amounts of coke to think Alexa Chung is a good TV presenter...

    Poor rich people

Why is it that the more money someone has, the more they seem to complain of being poor? The other day as I was sitting in someone’s garden with swimming pool, they were bemoaning that they couldn’t afford that second holiday of the year. An acquaintance recently described her new boyfriend as a...
