Apologies, you are quite correct of course, my second post was the one that contained my thoughts on ways forward. How I felt that more services like Amazon's DRM free and eMusic.com would increase the growth of legal downloads. I also said I liked the delivery method of allofpmp3 - I did not...

    downloading music

I outlined some of what I believe the way forward in my first post. However in repsonse to John's post here are my proposed solutions: 1. Only publish on vinyl to reduce the risk of electronic theft. An alternative might just be to release the paper based score of your tune. 2. All music to be...

    > but I am more concerned about the artists than the industry. Fair point. But the Industry needs the artists so it will have to find other ways of paying the artists therefore other ways of generating revenue to continue making money. Setup a download site, give away the tracks but sell me...

    The Dub Scale

    > There was me, 13 years old, 1980, at Brixton Academy Ok, that's pretty cool! I am very very jealous! And at 13! That said, I took my step-son to Brixton Academy, aged 10, to see The Streets. He wasn't impressed at all but he loved Proessor Green and MC Sway. After seeing (or to be more...

So, Julian Cope is going to publish this new book called “Japrocksampler” and…

Ah! I was never a fan of JC but his engineer was God. Hugoth Nicholson's remixes of JC's work was a taster the work that came later in his collabaroations with Andrew Weatherall. I dont think there was an AW track/remix I really loved after Hugo stopped producing for him.

    The Dub Scale

I think > 6. Primal Scream should be 6. The Clash It was them that got me into dub, sort of. I still play Bankrobber Dub (and Guns of Brixton) in downtempo and reggae sets. I'm not entirely comfortable putting The Clash in the same list as Steps though.

freedownloadmanager.org - very good. Should I pitch into the filesharing debate? Probably not. It's a bit like arguing Palestine vs. Israel. Everyone has a strong opinion and normally a discussion (online) turns into an argument. I lived through the "home taping will kill the music industry"...

    web Hosting

I'm going to look at Dreamhost but Plugsocket.co.uk I can recommend based on several years of hosting. UK based support and they are very reactive. You might like to look at Fastmail.fm - with them you can host your website using your file storage allowance. You can get them to host your MX...

    BMC reggae podcasts

I think we discussed this in the old rolling thread (I scarcely dare mention that!) but yeah I'm loving these. I got switched onto them when they did the Nyabhingi podcast but now have downloaded all of them. Did you specifically want recommendations for "podcasts" or any reggae mix downloads...

Why do I find web stuff so confusing? [Why is Wordpress such a piece of shit?]

Ya dun-no! I have had mainly good experiences with Wordpress but only because I have a developer who can maintain (and fix) the php and the database. If I was on my own I would be forced to use Blogger or just not blog at all which is my current favourite.

Last night @ Dingwalls - Jah Shaka Zulu Warrior!!

There wil always be people that dont get the same level of enjoyment as others for one reason or another. I was at the front the whole time watching him on the mic - at one point he was *almost* facing the crowd! Don't think I have seen him so animated for years. I think I have actually got shin...

Last night @ Dingwalls - Jah Shaka Zulu Warrior!!

Normally I go to church on a Sunday morning. Yesterday church was in the evening, the place of worship was Dingwalls (Camden, London) and leading the congregation was Jah Shaka. It was a dance that is worthy of more praise then I can give but I owe some thanks! This was part II of the recent...

Yep - this is what I am doing now altho, did I mention, I liked the rolling threads? :) Hmmm. So where should I a post a "So who is coming to see Jah Shaka on Sunday?" thread and, 2stepfan, will you be reaching DMZ?

Agh! I was just sayin' is all. I wish I could spend more time on here but my kids see the PC on and they want Cbeebies! We compromise on my music (which on some occasions John is *your* music) and their websites! I liked the rolling threads and when I had time I checked the others but the...

Guilty as charged. However in this overload-of-information age I was simply lamenting the loss of something that was, to me, so useful. Childish and poor use of language aside I stand by what I said :)

I think its a rubbish idea. I subscribe to the rolling grime, dubstep, reggae and hip hop threads. If someone posts to that thread I get an email notification. Other than that I pay scant attention to any other posts as I am far too short of time. This is a forum and the users have come up with...

REGGAE/DANCEHALL - breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Yes I think a few people were. A nod perhaps to the fact that Dubstep is strongly linked to the concept of the The Dance and Dancehall music. Ha now I am thinking back to Saturday (DMZ) again!

REGGAE/DANCEHALL - breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Interesting. All the record shops quote it as a "soon come" with a different flip but it's Red Lights I want so I will try and track this one down. Huge tune, kills me every time Shaka plays it.
