    Roiling football blather

I think he's useless in both aspects. You can't see someone like Rooney coming into the setup from a week of training at their club under Ferguson's eye, and then having to take orders from someone who's enjoyed minimal success at club level and earned most his money as an assistant manager, and...

    100 greatest Japanese albums

Also it's a shame that for all their brilliance, Melt-Banana never made a truly great LP.

    100 greatest Japanese albums

Speaking of Japanese rock, are any of you familiar with Dot(.)? I hadn't heard of them before but I picked up the split 12 they did with Hey Colossus from Rough Trade about a month ago and it's fantastic. Absurdly loud, and sounds as if it was recorded in a volcano or something, but somehow...

    dissensus men

I used to have a pierced ear and eyebrow, but I ditched them a while ago so now it's just the tongue. I harbour dreams of getting tattoos all over, but I don't think it'll happen for a while... As for er, non-pierced jewelry, I have a lovely Tag watch (eighteenth birthday present), that I...

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

My brother absolutely raves about this film. I'll see it sometime.

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

I saw it at the Belmont Picturehouse in Aberdeen, it's only had a run of four days though. If you're London based, that little one on Shaftsbury Avenue might be showing it... Can't remember what it's called, but I once went there to see 9 Songs (bad move) and it seems the sort of place that...

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

Anyone seen Once? It's a musical, written by a guy who was apparently in the Frames (Irish indie band of which I know nothing), and follows a Dublin busker who forms a band with a Czech girl he meets. It's a very simple film, but it's very affecting. (Edit: just IMDBed it, the writer/director...

This is still the best grime video ever, by the way:

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Even though I love that tune, it doesn't even come close to showcasing what a good MC Chipmunk is. When you listen to something like him clashing Griminal on that Unique set at the end of summer; he's got this amazing tone to his voice when he gets really into it, like the youthful chirpiness...

    charity shop booty

I went into a charity shop to buy some furniture recently, and someone had put a big stack of old british metal seven inches down: Saxon ones, and Ronny James Dio singles with ridiculous, badly-drawn dragons and devils and jewels on the covers. Obviously I bought them, but with a tinge of...

Impact of smoking ban on clubs

Admitting something has an advantage doesn't mean you support it.

Impact of smoking ban on clubs

Don't forget the fucking Scratch Perverts. (who, it should be added, my friend talked me into seeing with him before Optimo one night in Aberdeen, and they played Cockney Thug!)

    Chuck D and Flava Flav

There's an interview with them on UGHH.com where they say so. Watching it, I thought maybe they were winding the guy up, but there are people in the comments section saying it's true.

    Chuck D and Flava Flav

Don't mean to derail the thread further, so feel free to shout at me, but is Flava Flav being the RZA's cousin a well-known thing? I only found out about this the other day...

Impact of smoking ban on clubs

It's effecting everything I think. Went to see Skream play Fabric last Friday, and when there's no smokey haze around the main room it's just all the clearer that everybody there's a bastard. The minute he went off, Pendulum (ack) came on and this onslaught of people hit the floor, pushing...

I think it's funny that the only rolling threads that seem to still be active are grime and cricket. Message boards make for odd bedfellows...

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

bit bored of this debate now, but yeah, obviously you can't exactly not listen to hiphop. doesn't mean early grime and wiley, sharkey et al aren't a huge influence on them; griminal, chip and little dee said themselves it was the main one, more so than hiphop.
