Got an email from his bandcamp yesterday, he's got a new record out apparently. I ordered it without listening... but as for the man himself, disappeared from Dissensus and life as far as I can tell.
First radio show of the year, totally cut out the talking this time cos it was bollocks really. Starts with jazz, ends with easy listening... in-between you get acid, electro, krautrock and who knows what else?
Anyone go to the theatre these days? Is it still a vital artform or dead as a dodo. On Thurs we went to see a performance of an Alan Ayckburn play by the Lisbon Players who are being turfed out of their spot after 72 years. It was fun but not really a strong argument for theatre's cutting edge...
What the fuck was that about then? I always enjoy watching this guy's films (up to a point) but I wouldn't pretend to begin to understand any of them. Does anyone have any idea what he's trying to do?
Has anyone registered songs on Spotify? I mean so that your song is there and people can play it and if they do you get paid an infinitesimally small amount and somehow you collect that money. How do I go about that?
I found some website called Tunecore which says that if you upload the songs...
In Feb/March we will be releasing the first record on invisible Sounds our new label. The band is Jaguar No Me led by Taishi Nagasaka former keyboardist from Fat White Family and the album of beautiful cinematic psyche will be available on vinyl with stunning cover plus obi strip and lyric pull...
Anyone ever played this sport? Kinda looks like a cross between tennis and squash but a bit sillier (maybe it's doubles only)
Loads of courts here but I'm finding it tricky to find anyone to play with just yet.... watch this space though.
Anyone read this book? In some ways it seems quite a dissensus book in that it's sort of experimental and talks about theory and stuff without really being theory. Though it is also a feminist book by a woman so in that respect it's WAAAAY outside our comfort zone. And obviously it's a tricky...
Thought I'd share this one on its own cos I like the picture of our guest DJ 1985 from Russia so much... oh, you can't add from your own file in the events bit(?), pity, it's a great picture. Oh well.
If you're in London on Thursday come down to cool new (to me anyway) venue Helgi's where I will be spinning a load of killer weird psych and leftfield rock and yet more stuff too. And so will the amazing Daniel Davies of Wolf People plus our mutual friends and record collectors from Portugal...
Anyone know how this works? All I can see so far is that they are taking away some features (eg the ability to rewind) and then charging you for having them back. At the moment it's still free to upload and to basic listen right? Seems weird cos for me if there is a free service I will use it...
The other day my girlfriend got this record from a French label with this one cool song about ET on it, some research shows it's a slightly different version of this track that the guy has obviously sneakily bootlegged. I love the weird lyrics that could only be sung with such conviction by a...
My friends who run East Side Radio are doing a party in London to celebrate two years together (as Funkamente I mean). I'm gonna play some stuff as the warm up from 9pm until 10pm or so. Come along if you're around.
This is the blurb
Dunno if that is just hyperbole about limited capacity, no...
Yesterday I watched You Were Never Really Here - before the start I didn't really know much about it other than that it had received good reviews, in fact a quick google told me that it had received a seven minute standing ovation at Cannes, that it had a score of ninety percent on Rotten...
That's the author not the guy out of Peep Show.
Anyone read his books? I've read a few over the years and basically I've always enjoyed them to the extent that I will pick them up from a charity shop and like them but never been totally blown away by them. Anyway, this week I read Bone Clocks...
Is this really true? Or is it gonna be that there is a new agent 007 who isn't Bond but is a black woman? I don't really understand what's happening but at least some places seem to be reporting it as James Bond becoming a black woman... if so, then that would be great in that it will absolutely...
So, on the minuscule off-chance that anyone happens to be in Lisbon this weekend.
On Friday we are dj-ing at a tiny new-ish basement bar thing called In Bloom (R. Lucinda Simões 5A, 1900-304 Lisboa). Just a chance to play loads of random weird sevens and stuff that I don't normally spin in a...
Just like it says really. I played the first couple of tunes and then I think Liza did one and after that it was Detlef all the way although we managed to get in a few hard-hitting questions along the way such as "Where do you play next?" etc
