Vocal Pop Music -- Do you listen to lyrics?

Lyrics is plain, sonic texture for me, even in very text-focussed genres like grime or hiphop. I hardly ever pay attention to any lyrics, probably because it is too much of an effort to understand them. Never being able to sing along a song is the price of such laziness though. Laziness that...

    Digital Media Theory articles

I am glad that this discussion takes a more interesting course. What you write here, mms, is -for me, at least- a most fundamental question. One that has not been treated (enough) by media theory, namely: what are the consequences of such rapidly changing technological infrastructures on the...

    Digital Media Theory articles

Agreed. That's true for the Frankfurters. Apart from Benjamin, I would probably not classify them as media theorists though. Kittler and Bolz do write about digital media and if you wouldn't know them -although I assume you do- check them out. Especially Kittler is a rocking badboy academic par...

    Digital Media Theory articles

Nice programme! It is quite weird, though, that the Toronto-school is neglected entirely in this course. So is German media theory (maybe Bolz, certainly Kittler, why not Benjamin?). Personally, I can't wait for you to reach the last course on digital politics. The italian scholars you will be...

    WOEBOT.tv

This is some of the most refreshing material I saw in ages. Informed, critical and passionate. It's like skipping through the wire and hearing on the spot what is written about. Wished I checked this out earlier.

    Gong

Do you guys remember this Quasimoto track called 'Bully's hit'? It samples Gong in a rather genius way. I don't remember the title of the Gong track though. Anyway, here is the video.

DUBSTEP- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Gonna check out your mix as well then, Dub-u. I was already very impressed with the crunk+hyphy mix you did, so I'm really curious. What I'd really would want to hear though, is 3 or even 4-deck mix of dubstep/grime instru vs minimal techno. If carefully done, it couldn't be wrong.

    Stuff You Ate

Could you explain the details of this raw diet? Or is it just eating raw vegetables all throughout the year? That would be so wrong, even worse than macrobiotics.
