    Trance

My ma through out all my cassettes one day a few years back. Think she must have been drunk or something... Any chance you could up it somewhere? Pleeease!!! :D

    Trance

I think the German Superstition label: http://www.discogs.com/label/Superstition is a pretty damn good place to start. In general I've absolutely no time or tolerance for trance but even I'll admit that they released some great tracks back in the day. I'm pretty sure my first exposure to the...

Tech-Tard Question I Need Help With

Ever used WinZip? If so, same thing, different name. If not, read on... The mp3 files you want are contained inside the WinRAR files. The purpose of doing this is - as you mention - to compress them and ease their passage through the internet. In order to get at these you need the WinRAR...

Any advice for a couple of first timers visiting Tokyo and Beijing?

Me and my wife-to-be-in-a-few-weeks will be visiting Tokyo for a few days in early September and Beijing for a few days in late September as part of our honeymoon  So I'm hoping that some of you wise and well travelled souls might have some advice for us? Sights, things to do, areas to...

Your most tenuous or absurd claims to fame

Not quite as cool as the above but I did have a chat with Sonic after an E.A.R. performance about 5 or 6 years back. We spoke about the gig and his change in musical direction and I bought a real nice heavyweight vinyl copy of the Vibrations EP from him. I then thanked him for all the great...

    105 Bpm

You should check the first track on Sascha Dive's The Basic Collective EP (Part 1 of 3): http://www.discogs.com/release/950480 The whole EP is great but that track in particular is super deep and super funky and comes in somewhere down around the low 100s I guess. Nice spoken word vocal too

    Minimal house anthems

Yeah it's a remix of St. Germain's Rose Rouge. I'm guessing it's probably the same one he played in the Mary Anne Hobbs mix he did a while back so grab a copy of that here: http://mixesdb.com/db/index.php/2007-04-20_-_Ricardo_Villalobos_-_Mary_Anne_Hobbs and bring on the flashbacks... ;)

    urgent request: quality house mixes

The RA Podcasts are all archived here: http://mnmlbeats.wordpress.com/tag/ra-mixe/ For house lovers I'd suggest the Dixon or Ewan Pearson mix but the tunes are all a bit out of date by now (if that's a concern?). If it is, then you'll always get a nicely mixed selection of up to date tracks...

    Minimal house anthems

That Villalobos track was originally leaked here: http://ohmygoshparty.blogspot.com/2007/06/len-faki-cancelled-this-friday-too-bad.html as far as I know. Don't think it's been officially released yet.

    Matthew Dear - Asa Breed

Mixed feelngs about this really. Some great stuff on it (Fleece On Brain, Deserter, Don & Sherri... ) but it doesn't really do it for me as a whole. The majority of tracks (or songs I guess) are in and around the 3 minute mark which is a pity as some of them could really do with some extra space...

    Seven Ages of Rock

Grinderman on JH a couple of weeks back were fucking awesome.

    Minimal house anthems

Got a real soft (hard?) spot for Audion's Titty Fuck. Noiser is big too. Wink's Have To Get Back was getting some love up thread too and I totally agree. I prefer the version with vocals though - kinda reminds me of Plastikman. Poor old Wink gets a lot of stick these days. I know he's produced...

At what age did you start listening to music?

The first record I bought (and it was actually a record) was some old Walt Disney soundtrack compilation. I remember being told by the lady over the counter 'what a lucky boy' I was so I guess I was pretty young, 7 or 8 or so :D I remember playing it to some other kids on the estate I grew up on...

The Image, The Film-Maker, His Cow, And Her Cheese [INLAND EMPIRE]

Doubt it. There's a snippit of the remix available here: and that sure as hell wasn't what I heard. It does sound totally full-on though but perhaps that's testament to your local cinema's PA? Or, knowing DL's love of sound, perhaps he tweaked it?

    Is this good music?

    Fuck no.

HOUSE- breaking news, gossip, libel, lies etc,

Shame Dixon's RA mix: http://www.residentadvisor.net/podcast-episode.aspx?id=48 is no longer available. Best mix I've heard in an age which really quite surprised me. Got a real laidback feel to it. I'll try and bang it up somewhere over the weekend and post a link. Well worth it. Check out...

HOUSE- breaking news, gossip, libel, lies etc,

You want house? Never better news than Moodymann news but on a super sunny Friday afternoon like this it feels particularly fine. I could listen to this forever... Check it here: http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=32923

    Pan Sonic

I had the intense pleasure of seeing them live around the time they released Aaltopiiri in a place called Interzone in Verona, Italy. The whole experience was unforgettable. The black square mentioned above, and its permutations, is the most perfect audio / visual synergy I've witnessed; pure...

herbert - what do you reckon?

Me too. He came on after a crazy Jamie Lidell live set and played one of the best DJ sets I've heard. He started off real deep and funky but pushed it and pushed it as the night got wilder and dropped a load of classics: Panikattack, Destination Unknown, Luke Slater's mix of Forklift... And all...

The Image, The Film-Maker, His Cow, And Her Cheese [INLAND EMPIRE]

It's Nina Simone's Sinnerman. Great scene. Great movie.
