    crappest party you've ever attended

i love this thread! :D the house wasn't destroyed luckily, but a party co-hosted by mine and ben ufo's old house, along with our neighbours in the house opposite was 'broken up' nastily by several dozen police in riot gear with dogs - numerous injuries as a result of unprovoked police attacks...

Radio 4 news - 'dumbing down'?

anyone else noticed this with the news bulletins of late? there seems to be a more chatty, 'informal' approach going on ('so and so went to find out' > 'i'm standing next to...' etc), on a similar par to the presenting style and journalism in television news at the moment... agh, why is this...

    Dubstep

yeah, same - even if it does cost me an arm and a leg to do a 24hr trip to london

Are we going to get a Tory government next election?

it wouldn't be too great if one of the extremist parties managed to creep up to the 30% mark though! would more people vote for the extreme right/(left) if they thought they had a genuine chance of forming a government?

    music to write to...

haha, this thread is very relevant to me at the moment - essay crisis, with a sickening amount of words to research and write in the next few weeks. i'm not too good at writing with music on, but i'm resorting to it to avoid 'hearing the sound of my own panic' as someone said  today...

Surprising incidental music on crap telly

i think richard james is living comfortably just from telly use of SAWII. last time i remember, 'watchdog' had used about six or seven tracks, just in one segment about a faulty vauxhall or summit. music researcher/consultant for programmes must be one of the best jobs ever!

Have you ever heard something so good it made you cry?

One track that sticks out is the album version of 'All Is Full Of Love' by Bjork...must have been about 15 at the time and had never heard anything like it before

    Bjork - 'Volta' (2007)

Really looking forward to this new album. It sounds like a much more accessible and different record than Medulla, which left me cold for the most part. Lively and upbeat, that's what I'm hoping for. It's a shame that Glastonbury seems to be the only UK date on her tour.

    selling vinyl...

Split by genre and sell on't eBay. Sounds like a nondescript collection, but you'd probably get a few quid by doing it that way. Exactly :)

Sounds, effects, instruments that sound great for a bit but then sound passé very qui

Has anyone suggested Venetian Snares-esque/breakcore drum programming yet? Quite a dated sound right now, probably needs a rest before the 'neucore' revival of 2013.

Sherburne reports on Shackleton Villalobos remix

What?! ...has that got to do with anything. I'm sure when Villalobos was deciding where to pitch the vocals, he had that in mind. What a wanky review. But yeah, interested to hear the remix although it won't touch the original, that's for sure.

    dj nerves

I definately like a smoke and a mix...but only whilst mixing at home. I get pretty damn nervous on the rare occasions I've played out. Remember doing my first set when I was 16 to a pretty packed room and hardly being able to put the needle on :D If there's any kind of audience I'll get the old...

DUBSTEP- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

But dubstep was the amalgamation of different genres too, right? And it's still a young genre, hence a lot of people that are into the sound coming from other musical backgrounds too. Of course, you've got a lot of new producers copying the halfstep wobble but there must be plenty of people out...
