    Good, popular detective fiction?

Fred Vargas, Jonathan Lethem, Lehane, not great books but not bad. If you wanna go a little darker you could try Denis Johnson, Jim thompson, James Crumley, and Iain Banks "complicity"

    Mark Ronson

No need to bad mouth Heaven 17. Nor Duran Duran for that matter, what paradise we would be in if pop was still that well made. Ronson however has never impressed me much.

    Luke Haines

Love him, Hero he is. Lyrics are always so intelligent and bitter it doesnt really matter what you listen to, but for a newcomer id recommend steve albini produced murder park, or baader meinhof. That said, i love everything he touches.

    shutter island

Saw it earlier tonight, good movie. Actually the doctor says that it is true he was in the war, but that it couldnt be confirmed that he executed the guards. Hurt Locker, straight up racist movie

hardly straight up racist. Certainly defending the american presence in Iraq , and not a very good movie. But it's the "terrorists" who are depicted as inhuman, not the Iraqis per se, take for example the scene when he goes looking for the kid and ends up at the academics house.

    Best television drama ever

bad tv is nostalgia for me. Reruns has proven the quality of series like cracker, homocide:life on the streets and more recent series has proven that things are still good, i hold West wing as the greatest tv drama ever. Reruns has also proven of course that it is really only nostalgia that can...
