I almost always go to sleep with music on. Perennial favourites include Basinski's Disintegration Loops, GAS and Grouper. I also like some minamalist stuff (Terry Riley, Gavin Bryars et cetera). I think the few times i've felt completely immersed in music has been in that wonderful half awake...

I’m not so keen on this. Sounds like they met halfway and diluted both their sounds. I thought Four Tet's recentisg EP (Ringer?) was really good though. It had more of a spacey kraut feel than his excessively polite folktronica records. His free jazz stuff with Steve Reid is pretty good too.

I went to see Prosumer DJ at Fabric on Saturday and he played Lil Silva's Pulse X Remix. He mixed it in with Lil' Louis's Original Video Clash ( ) it sounded amazing and really brought out the similarity with some of the rougher sounding early Chicago beats. It's really interesting to see...

I'm not really a fan. Only two or three good tracks, mostly filler with recycled bars and poor beats. Definitely the worst yet. Also it sound really badly mixed

Sure, a lot of the Strictly Rhythm/'Ibiza' style house is exceedingly mediocre dancefloor filler. But I think the problem is that there is a reasonable amount of good music in that scene that has been written off by association. If you’d asked me six months ago what I thought about this...
