    total immersion

sounds like a gold mine :) given that I only know of Bobbito's legendary status mostly third hand... thanks for that!

LOL :) Out Of Step could be a good party starter as well ;)

    superstar dj's

Skeng would fit nicely after an intro like that or maybe 2D, Deep Space 9mm could be a fun one too... Something gloomy with a bang to it anyways, otherwise it's a bit of a let down...

what music do you 'return' to?

For me it would have to be Company Flow at least right now... The music I go back tends to change and morph across time. Would've been quite nostalgic to be listening to Nirvana - Incesticide a few years back or maybe Fugazi - The Argument, also Shadow - Endtroducing brings back a lot of memories.

    MF Dooooooooooooooooooooooooooom

hmmm... might have to check it out, since it's being recommended over here... his last outing kinda ended on a really low point... too many things at the same time seem to be the way he operates, but the outcome is far from being stellar all the time.

    cheapish wave editor for mac

I've tried this one and thought it was decent: http://www.audiofile-engineering.com/waveeditor/ it's not bad for quick edits of the kind I usually need. I did find the simple wave editor department a bit lacking... I guess got too used to Cool Edit on windows.

    Dubstep

Loefah played a really good set here in Moscow this friday night... at least the first hour out of 1:30 was really good before it all went into full on crowdpleasers... It's weird but with him so insistent on playing halftime beats, he really brings out a sense of hip-hop to my ears anyway. He...

    Nanotube Speakers

something you can just hang on walls? like a poster-speaker ;) I wonder how they deal with the Low Frequencies since usually speaker designs rely on moving huge amounts of air to achieve sub 50hz frequencies. The stretching bit looks cool... it says there is no noticeable sound degradation...

    Favourite break

Think Break... I guess... it's really simple, just as over used as the Amen probably... but I love how it has those little vocal bits in it that can make tunes in of themselves by simply pitching them :) it's probably my favourite only because I love this song too much:

    facebook

yeah there is... just look at the ads and pages app... it's nice because it completely separates from your personal account the music or whatever else page and gives you some basic tracking in case you're planning to promote it loads.

    Dubstep

That's what I always attribute it to. It's obvious when using Serato, the sound is so clean cut on it because there is no feedback to the needles.

    Hip-Hop '00s

Very true... didn't really think of all the hidden bits, mostly for the reason of never really taking time to understand or learn about them, thus not catching a lot of them... but that's pretty much my point if ever they do it, it is often done in some cryptic form, while the Reggae artists can...

    Hip-Hop '00s

Yeah I haven't really followed his output... So didn't quite realise he'd done it better beforehand. That video is definitely quite a low budget affair which is just plain strange and not in a good way either. I meant the whole religious thing being out of place on certain types of genres more...

    Hip-Hop '00s

With regards to Killah Priest going all religious... The one thing I don't understand is that certain music styles can be as religious as they want to be (think Reggae/Dancehall/Ragga) without anyone looking weird at them and yet get away with saying some really rough gangsta stuff. At the same...

lets find a dissensus best hardcore record list

a stupid question but nonetheless: where would people like The Dillinger Escape Plan and Converge fit into? Because I definitely tend to think of them as hardcore...

    zomby - where were u in 92?

I must've been in Volgograd (ex-Stalingrad) at the time... i was 9... mmm... yeah I don't think I knew much about music that existed outside of the USSR... just the typical 70s rock stuff, that my dad would've just brought back home from the first trip abroad :)

    Amerie "1 Thing"

Hehehe... his voice can be a bit grating, doesn't help that it's quite pitched up for the blend to work... Hardly as irritating as DoseOne I would imagine ;) They did flirt with making this space age funk stuff on a couple of releases, kinda upbeat danceable almost pop tunes. Just thinking...

Your preferred digital DJ system and why

I'd imagine this has a lot more to do with the quality of the DA converters used in the Serato box, it's basically an external audio card running through USB... Most high end external audio interfaces usually run on firewire and are a fair bit more expensive... so I imagine this is where the...
