How much garage/NUKG/grime is made on cracked software?

i'm sure almost all of it. now this is interesting to me, because it's the justification d'n'b ripping groups use when someone complains that they're taking money out of the artists' pockets by uploading all the new dubs and promos - that there's some kind of cosmic justice in stealing music...

    non-uk grime record pools

DeepSix has been running a record pool at http://rinseit.ca for a little more than a year now, though lately shipments have been somewhat infrequent. We got good service from established labels, particularly Social Circles, but as you can imagine most of the grime people aren't interested in...

another grime thread: this time concerned with sampling

i know 9th, and he pretty much just chops loops up in cool edit and samples them in fruity loops. but whatever - you can run kontact/intakt or whatever vst sampler you want in fruity or ableton or most anything now. i really <3 ableton 4.1. i reviewed that low deep tune for xlr8r next month -...

    grime queries

oh please excuse me for not knowing the boundaries of your genre i am so sorry not really smartass "lost in brooklyn" is ~130bpm, which is grime tempo, as opposed to drill'n'bass which i assume derives from drum'n'bass -> 160+bpm. but please, splitting hairs is ilmish masturbation.

http://dropthelime.com - try the "lost in brooklyn" mp3 teamshadetek are on the case too, and kid606 is at least interested in grime, wouldn't be surprised to see something coming from him.

    grime queries

-- yes -- roll deep -- stormin i think? not at home now so i can't listen. -- the sublow.fm record with "beats uk remix" has a "duck the 5-0" acapella on the flip. not as good as the more recent black ops - but "beats uk remix" is a really excellent piece of r'n'g.

new blog: grime/dubstep/small american cities (bandwagon bandwagon)

I've jumped on the bandwagon only two years too late and set myself up a blog. http://urbanrenewalrecords.com/blog/ I'll be talking shit about djing, college radio, grime and dubstep, hip-hop (particularly durham's nascent Little Brother-inspired scene), and what it's like to mostly play music...

Black Ops - Jon E Cash

because they spend a whole lot of time developing their sound? in each case you cite i'm sure their production development is a matter of going through synth presets/samples/etc. until they find the rare few that haven't been caned already yet sound good, then eqing/compressing/processing...

Black Ops - Jon E Cash

i'd lay odds it is, considering my copy says "jon e cash" and it's based around the horn sample from "war." also, cameo still worked in uptown last i heard and he's tight with them. funny thing about the black ops guys is how sweet they are in person for a bunch of MCs who endlessly talk about...

    Grime and Graf

there were rumors at the time (that i've never heard confirmed) that eskimo was BIG in JA dances after that.

garage track from about 3 years ago.

streets remix you're talking about is the narrows & morph remix of "same old thing" what you're after is probably one of the other narrows tracks from that era; they're all much the same aside from samples.

    Dizzee Rascal US Tour dates

i guess it's normal when you're 19 years old and think this is What Real Hip-Hop MCs Do. oh, wait, that IS what US rappers do.

So who on this board is in the states or canada?

hi. i'm in the US, NC to be exact. i've djed uk garage since the 2-step days, and i have a little record label with a comp. out of unreleased tracks from US/Canadian producers: http://urbanrenewalrecords.com . sometimes i get to go to other cities and dj, and that's really fun. i write 12"...

ruff sqwad- guns n roses mixtape

that ruff squad tune silverdollarcircle posted up is just an old neptunes track - "cross the border" by philly's most wanted. great track, horrid original vocal. definitely a win on this one.

"hype hype" picked up by smoove / MOS

those of you who have been tuned in since the 2-step days may remember Locked On - under Andy Lewis they made a practice of signing tunes that were big on white (monsta boy - "sorry" springs to mind) and re-releasing them with extra remixes. did quite well for themselves and had their big coup...

    The Beastie Boys of Grime?

the weird thing is that cash, chaps, charmzy are really gentle, soft-spoken people in person (at least they were when i met them). they're definitely not a weird adjunct, except that they're from west london and most grime folk are from east (crews are from all over though - SLK is south), but...

Breaking News: RZA completely jocks Wiley

maybe it just makes for better footage. i mean, what's better to show off than a bunch of synths? you can dial up all the presets and pretend you got your money's worth. plasticman did all his work up to maybe 8 months or so ago in fruity loops. now he uses reason. hardware is fucking expensive.

Gangsta Walking and aggressive communal dance

friend of mine in CA tells me this is quite real, though perhaps a bit of a fad. although i'm sure they said that about c-walking... but c-walking doesn't look like an epileptic fit so it's maybe an easier sell.
