Been playing lots of mostly 80s and 90s Russian experimental stuff on our radio show on The Neon Hospice. This album from 1984 is pretty fantastic, kind of kosmische proto-techno in a biscuit tin. Expansive and claustrophobic at the same time.

I feel quite defensive of the Megadog / Mixmaster Morris wing of this scene, and those parts of the mix I can feel almost wistful towards. First experiences of clubbing and that, but where those crunchy and 'wonky' beats come in it's just revolting. It's like the hole that Squarepusher crawled...
