Not seen it! Valley of despair is me.

I've been on mount stupid myself in political opinion (aged late 20s), film music art and literature knowledge (early 20s), and more recently fishing. I'm still in valley of despair when it comes to political opinion. Which I think is down to unknown unknowns, of which there are plenty. Take...

Is their theory true? Does 'too stupid to know it' apply? Have you ever felt this way in life? It seems to make sense to me, as I often encounter people with limited ability, knowledge or experience behaving in overconfident ways. I think they are more likely to make boldly stated...

    Tarkovsky

When I tried to watch Solaris with my sister, she gave up on it before they even got into space, which is the best bit imo. I think the highway drive sequence was just too much for her.

Spy Game was alright. Always takes me a while to adjust to the pace of a new film after so many old ones that although might be well paced, seem to have meaning in every action. No fat in other words. More watching required.

    Tony Scott

I'll be able to answer when I've seen more Tony films, as Ridley has done some pretty awful stuff of late.

My favourite Ridley is Someone to Watch Over Me.

WHAT TYPE OF TOES DO YOU HAVE

Too big! Only bothered me because she was quite hot, and accurate in her observation. Big toe sticks out, visible in socks.

    What perfume do you wear?

According to what the girl in the newsagent said when I went in after I'd been fishing, "Burning', as that's what she said she could smell.

WHAT TYPE OF TOES DO YOU HAVE

German. I remember a girl at university gave me a temporary complex when she laughed at the size of my big toe. It's also got tufts of hair on it, but luckily I had my socks on.

    Tony Scott

Which of his films are worth watching and are they any good? Seen Top Gun, Beverley Hills Cop 2, and True Romance. Reason I asked is I watched the original 1987 Man on Fire the other day, and my mate told me to just watch the Denzel Washington remake. It's part of my new style of watching 'new'...

    Film Noir

I was going to do a thread about what your film milestones in your life were, but decided it's not really worth it to mention how I watched a Lynch film at 18 then got into 'world cinema' in my 20s, where I saw a few Japanese films, but can't remember that many pure Yakuza films, so it's a...

    Film Noir

Westerns and War films are my big blind spots. I always said I liked the atmosphere of noir, how I could drift in and out, when there's too much shooting I lose focus.

    Film Noir

I've recently stopped watching noir after 5 or so years of making it a nightly routine. Ran out of classics to watch, getting diminishing returns on lesser known ones, getting the titles mixed up anyway, and generally no longer being in the mood aka tired AF and CBA.

    What are the sixties

I knew about the rant before now. I don't really think about it too much. He dug himself a deep hole and has tried to redeem himself since, doing all kinds of things like setting up a rehab centre in Antigua. I don't put it up to me to decide if he has exonerated himself though, not being really...

    What are the sixties

This feels worse than when I learnt Michael Caine was a conservative. Can't choose your family.

    What are the sixties

I don't think there are as he's spent the last however many decades playing the same songs. Good one with BB King playing The Thrill has Gone.
