Dissensus Cassette Swap: Third Time Lucky

As Gavin notes, there are still some people who haven't let me know where they are with their tapes/CDs. If you could please let me know what's up, I'd really appreciate it. As always if I can help in any way, please let me know.

Dissensus Cassette Swap: Third Time Lucky

Yes indeed. It was always the intent of the review blog to include digital soundfiles of the tapes received and I would encourage anybody who has the facilities to upload mp3s of the tapes they are reviewing. If we're going to try this, some guidelines are probably in order. The onus is on...

    DJs... what cartridges?

Is £30 too much? As hint says, the cheapest is the Stanton 500, but not much cheaper. M44-7s still get my vote for best value. Funny you should say that. I recently met someone who sprung for a Shure M97xE audiophile cart for listening, exactly as you did. The first record he played snapped...

    DJs... what cartridges?

I've read that too, although personally I don't hear it. Whitelabels have very similar sonic characteristics to the M44-7s. So I'm told. I've never actually seen one in the flesh.

Really? I've never had that happen.

    DJs... what cartridges?

Shure M44-7s are the one for you. They say the are designed for turntablism, but IMHO they are the best all around DJ cart on the market. Not only will they hold a groove through the most rigourous manipulation, but they sound fantastic, too. True story: when I had my truty Stanton 680ELs...

Dissensus Cassette Swap: Third Time Lucky

No worrys. Friday or Monday makes little difference in the eyes of the postal service. I've sent an email to anybody I haven't heard from yet. Please let me know how the tape or CDR you are sending is progressing. I've also sent out email concerning the status (sent/late) of the tape or CDR...

Whats it like on the outside looking in?

Yup, lots of that here. One girl in particular is very proud of her orange Rainbow Brite pants.

Whats it like on the outside looking in?

You can believe them; it's all electro-house here in eastern Canada right now. I'm not at all surprised by your assessment, straight, as DJs here suffer greatly from "promo lag". Promotional copies of the majority of 12s don't hit here until they've been on Juno/beatport for 2-3 months. Just...

You misunderstand; the "Like what?" was in reference to the NOT your personal life. I honestly could care less. What could be nerdier than a swap of obsolete analogue media? The review blog is at http://ferriteloveconnection.blogspot.com . What is a review but a report on the...

??? It's hardly the inquisition. I just thought a little reality check was in order. I also wanted to send the message to other participants that I am here to help in any way I can. No need to be like what? I stated facts. Hey, I understand that sometimes life gets in the way. That is...

Just a quick check-up to see how everybody is doing. Speaking for myself, the tape came together on the weekend and now I'm working on the packaging. Any questions, comments or problems, just blast me off an email. Don't forget, tapes must be in the mail by November 30th.

    The Death of Oink

The thing to keep in mind there is that the sales figures you are referring to have been provided by major label associations who are trying to use them as leverage to force governments into action. Well, you've hit the nail on the head there. Of course, one can't lay the blame entirely at the...

Shelving for 12" Records and LPs

The cabinet is made by Rubbermaid  (who don't appear to have a functioning website?). The Canadian Tire website was the only place I could find a pic online.

Shelving for 12" Records and LPs

Nope. It's called a pantry, but it's really just a shelf with doors. Doors you can close. And lock. Away from children. 17" deep, too. LPs fit really nicely. 5 shelves (and a bit of space for 7"s or CDs or whatever) @ 250 records per shelf = 1250 in the cabinet/pantry with no sweat.
