    No more guitars.

in the interest of fairness, can we also propose a freeze on DJ's?...(i.e. if you ain't one now, you ain't gonna be one, for two years at least)...talk about a glut...

    No more guitars.

sounds like the conceit behind Rush's 2112 opus...(future society, music is banned, spelunker discovers guitar, sweet music prevails...or does it?)

    J Mixer 'Sweet Love'

    No guilty pleasures

surely there must be some guilty pleasures still out there...I can't imagine how any right-minded person could get into/defend the hate-fringe of Oi! (Skrewdriver, et al) or Prussian Blue, but I'll bet there's a few of them out there...seems like the stuff of personal conflict to me...

    Does 'pop' music date?

pop music (at least the big hits) defies aging/dating because, by virtue its ubiquity (ads, movies, radio, etc.) it transcends the "song" and becomes part of the cultural context...when I hear "Good Vibrations", I don't hear the vocal harmonies, the innovative use of theremin or whatever so much...

    Junior Boys type vibes

this is going back a bit, but Junior Boys remind me quite a bit of Heights Of Abraham, who were one of Steve Cobby's bands in the Pork stable in the mid-90's...HoA were much more elegant, less trip-hoppy, than their labelmates...

    jungle vs house.......

what makes a subgenre official?...I was thinking that a compilation release bearing the name of said subgenre would do the trick, but then I can't recall a "Best Microhouse Album In The World...Ever!" or somesuch...who gets to decide?... there must be "genre trees" in abundance on the...

Trendy NME/MM/etc type groops that actually sound good NOW!

Moose still sound fresh because they were incorporating elements of country into their music, a full decade before that sort of thing became a common indie practice...Slowdive still sound fresh because about 80% of the current crop of laptoppers are trying to be them...Medicine still sound fresh...

    loop

my favorite Loop cover is "Thief Of Fire"... I've always found it interesting that people seem to love Loop or Spacemen 3, and simply tolerate the other...(like-minded bands and all)...it's as if the negative vibes expressed by Hampson and Kember in the press are transferred to the listeners as...
