Myspace to sell music online using paypal

It looks to me that this is something they're going to tack onto the site. Are they really stumped for ways to make money off myspace? Not that I want to give News Corp any good ideas...

Ethical question for seasoned music reviewers

Rambler, small labels genuinely appreciate all the publicity they can get, all the more so the smaller the label is and the harder it is for them to get into print publications or any of the "reputable" online sites. Just be up-front with the label about what you'd be prepared to do with the...

Trance/Progressive House -- breaking news, slander, lies, etc...

yeah fair enough - I agree with that statement. But I don't think you can lay the blame for that at the foot of the nightclub or rave etc: it started a lot earlier than that. And it does depend a lot on what kind of bar or club you're talking about. Sitting at the theatre, opera or a concert...

    No guilty pleasures

This might be it in a nutshell. I think you can add to that the fact that we're all different and our emotions change over time: what might have been "truthful" and affecting to you before may no longer have the same resonance in the present: you never step in the same river twice, as some Greek...

Trance/Progressive House -- breaking news, slander, lies, etc...

You are totally spot on there mate. His columns are all about his hatred for the lower class and his own theories about why their lives are supposedly miserable with all the usual excuses - drugs, alcohol, not going to the opera, etc, oh and he should know because he's a doctor... -...

    The board's appealing new look!

I agree. I like these newer smilies: a bit cruder but the previous but more expressive somehow. I do miss Nick's skin though... But hey a change is nice..

    OK time to fess up

I caught myself listening to something that should probably go into this thread: Front Line Assembly. Sometimes all you - or rather, I - want is a fat beat a bassline and a storm of samples and electronic bleeps etc and their album, the only one I presently own, Tactical Neural Implant...

    new Booka Shade album

I just got this yesterday based on the posts here and it's pretty good so far on first listen... Some early Namlook/Fax style pads at the start and some nice bass-lines - some bits remind me a bit of the Metro Area album but in a more abstract german style. And yeah the production is fine...

Trance/Progressive House -- breaking news, slander, lies, etc...

Yeah I got a bit of that as an undergrad in the early to mid `90s but my mates weren't quite as bad as that and their thing was breaks and britpop.... I loved them all the same - at least most of us liked Front 242 and they were nowhere near as bad as your acquaintances: Daft Punk too dark...

    Martin Hannett

Did you guys see the Martin Hannett interview that was published in the Vagabond book that Touch released ? Apparently it's an interview that didn't make it to England's Dreaming (if memory serves). Someone's transcribed it here

PROG ROCK- breaking news, gossip, libel, lies etc

Australian prog-ish band Tooth have released a new album called Mudlarking which is well worth checking out - audio samples are available if you follow the link - with 3 guest contributions from Daevid Allen of Gong, who features it on his web-site here . What do you guys think about `90s prog...

    glitch

I got into this genre heaps in the late `90s etc. Computer music is probably a better term but glitch is easier to type. I second the Fenn'O'Berg albums, Oval and the Jega Geometry album. I'm surprised that no-one's mentioned Farmers Manual whose releases were pretty out there, classic...

Favourite rock writers - and why?

DAVID TOOP I found Rap Attack one day procrastinating at the uni library when I was an undergraduate which I read in a night. It was the first of the few music books I've read - got me really hyped about hip hop for a while and music genreally - exploring different kinds etc. And then there's...

    Neue Deutshe Welle Hot Tips

This is cool! I've queued up your comp for download, soundslike1981, and the tracks on the WFMEU blog. Keep `em coming... I might hunt down the DJ Hell comp too seeing as I like the proto EBM stuff.. I was really jealous when you announced your previous NDW CDr last year, Matt... :( Apart...

Nice track... Cool. Apparently he's into his Ballard as well. It'll be interesting to hear the rest of what he and Sutton have done.
