it's supposed to be something to do with phil collins' drumming

Top 50 Non Hip Hop Songs Of The 80’s That Hip Hop Fans Loved (Compiled By Me)

i was talking with Greg Caz last night -- and he's an authority on music if i've ever met one -- and through some bizarre twist or turn he began talking about how black people in the 80s loved Phil Collins, Hall & Oates, and Sting i kid you not

    Smoking IS cool.

a woman smoking can be damn hot only problem is that the "object," i.e., the woman or gent, as you wish, destroys him/her self by so doing -- and symptoms of advanced lung disease are not at all attractive of course if smoking weren't "bad," morally or health-wise, then it probably wouldn't be...

    best house music post-1992

yeah, admittedly, i was trying to think of a third famous record to piss upon -- 3's more effective than 2's rhetorically -- i should retract the "reach for me" statement, the bassline cannot be stopped except that i'm equally if not more uniformed post-1992, which, again, is why . . . .

new rock bands that don't suck

and then there's these new european pointillistic bands that aren't really rock, and who i can't decide if i like or not = hess is more fujiya & miyagi -- who are big in the uk, yes?

new rock bands that don't suck

also, though perhaps a bit too freaky-silly = little white rabbits still bleed red and if twee's your thing = unsolved mysteries and for melodic goth rock, there's = sophie lux

new rock bands that don't suck

agreed on indian jewelry and magik markers first learned of excepter on dissensus a couple weeks back, though it's only the one song and video that i like -- "rockstepper" black moth super rainbow -- i liked them for a second -- perhaps too gimmicky?

i have a soft spot for the "concept" of a balearic revival, but no so sure about the execution the map of africa album is rather poor quiet village is better, but i only know the "circus of horrors" ep and i'm unfamiliar with studio, "west coast" -- and the mixed reception it's getting here...

well, i did take a swipe at murk records upthread by talking bad about funky green dogs reach for me -- and you endorse murk records in your "mauve house" piece however, this murk-before-murk record is excellent -- and, yes, hypocrite that i am, outside the limits that i set for the thread

    best house music post-1992

good call on prescription records, though i think the record to have on the label is "make it happen (make it real)" blackdown mentioned romanthony upthread, another good call, and he just happens to have had the first record on prescription -- a re-release of the wanderer off his obscure label...

    best house music post-1992

i think the pickings are probably pretty slim, which is why i posed the question . . . . "hardrive" represents for me the decline and fall of house -- a massive international house hit and yet such a boring boring boring deep deep deep down inside me song -- pretends to be soulful, done by rote...

Dancing in the service of thought

i've seen great dancing both in the midwest and in new york in the midwest, fabulous freaky/groovy white raver kids circa 2000 in new york and places like hartford, connecticut, there's what i refer to as the banji boy skip dance -- effortless skipping-like movement to a house groove --...

    UK Tech House

not my cup of tea, i.e., i wouldn't collect these records today but at the time those were cool parties . . .

    UK Tech House

exactly -- Mr C had a club called the Drop in summer 1993 that pushed the "trance" sound

    UK Tech House

don't know the tune, i'm afraid -- but that organ sound was simply part of the house/rave DNA -- or rather, a sound one would often hear on breakbeat hardcore and prog house tracks, but not on "proper" techno or deep house -- nice track though
