sign you are watching a good movie

By the way, here's a fun idea - some band of scandinavian open source people are making a sci-fi film called "Iron SKy" based on the premise that the Nazis fled to the Moon after WW2, and are about to return with an Armada of UFO's. The collaborative writing process allows people to submit...

sign you are watching a good movie

Personally I tend to go one better and jump off the Subway train just as the doors close, leaving my pursuers who just managed to battle their way onto the same train (at the other end of the carriage) pounding their fists against the window as it pulls out of the station while I smirk at them...

Modern d'n'b is rubbish - tune ID and a moan from an old man

yes - it's very good all right i think the last six months have been the dawn of a new age in another way too - for the very first time i'm starting to feel like i'm missing out by not buying digital releases...

Modern d'n'b is rubbish - tune ID and a moan from an old man

utterly daft all right... it's like they glued together three press releases and rang annie mac for a few quotes... there's plenty of genuinely great music around though; forthcoming sabre bits on darkestral, early snips of the blu mar ten album are sounding great, alaska's "isolationist" lp is...

    a futile plea to producers

well i suppose i should clarify that i meant "functional" in a broader sense than "made to be mixed with" - "functional" in that there was a social context in which the music was to be played and a feedback loop of audience reaction inspiring music to be made to be fed to that audience, if...

    a futile plea to producers

on the other hand i find it odd that people insist that functional dance music should aspire to being art... craft could be defined as the creation of a practical artefact marrying form and function (hello photek!) - if you think of basket weaving for example you will see that the best baskets...

    bassline house

well - all i have to go on is the extremely small trickle of tunes i can find in dublin to be honest, and of the ones i've been picking up the best ones literally sound like clipz or twisted individual making house and not quite getting it right cheers for that link by the way; the b-side is...

    bassline house

the last few releases on southside legacy - iron soul "wateva" and "wow", also the iron soul ashanti bootleg. it is nu-clownstep though - and that's pretty much what i like about it. a friend reckons it's the first symptom of my midlife crisis - blasting out tunes that one woul d expect to...

    Dance music in Europe

The Poles as a whole prefer "Disko Polo" - sort of a crossover between Polish folk dances and commercial trance... An old housemate tells me of some of his friends in Warsow who run a minimal / electronica / noise label but who have a very secret love of knocking up disco polo on the sly when...

    Dance music in Europe

Hardstyle is a Low Countries hybrid of Hard House with Gabber kicks It sort of came about because as the Gabber culture aged a lot of the older Gabbers were a bit too old to last the pace in the main area of the raves, so they'd play something light and funky for the girls and the older crew -...

    Photek.

"One Nation" came out on Form and Function Volume 2 in the end... Been playing photek's remix of jonny l - "2 of us" quite a bit recently again; such a lovely unassuming little tune... Also - Therapy? - "Loose" (Photek Remix) - quite possibly the only occasion in history where "rock" sounds...

except they've taken all the just-about-feasible compositional excesses out of thier tunes... have you heard "granite" yet?

Modern d'n'b is rubbish - tune ID and a moan from an old man

well unfortunately going strictly by commercial D&B the next big innovation will be Pendulum's new material which sounds rather unfortunately like Blink 182 setting fire to Kraftwerk's studio while McFly and Busted film it on their mobiles.
