I never rated him particularly highly as DJ back in the funky days (maybe I just never heard the right sets?), but Supa D has turned out to be really good at this sort of thing. This mix has been around for a while now but I've found myself coming back to it a lot, has loads of tunes on it that...
Love Testone and love how that same 'no-nonsense' (to steal Corpsey's phrase from a few pages ago) sound has come back around again.
Edit: this Eastside bit reminds me really heavily of bleep-era stuff:
Ahhh nice one, had been after an ID on this one ever since I heard it on one of the Aaron Vybe/Perch sets months ago. Had assumed it was a homegrown Strange Static thing.
Monster indeed. :D
Liking this one a lot. :)
Speaking of Majesty, does anyone have an ID for the tune with the 'you light up the sky' vocal that's been showing up on a lot of his sets?
Fun fact: search for 'Nightshift frequency promo mix' on Google and the predictive search gives you the suggestion of 'frequent urination after night shift' :slanted: . (Good mix though).
Benny I know I say this about pretty much all the mixes you post, but your new 'Deep Blue' mix really is great.
It's weird, for ages I thought that Gotham by Ten Walls was pretty dull and didn't really understand the fuss about it, but now after hearing it in the context of that mix I think it's...
Had the B3 Edwards 'Be Free' mix on the headphones while I was out hillwalking yesterday, which was a good opportunity to listen to it without any distractions. Liked it a lot, it goes pretty dark for a while (in a good way :) ).
Thanks for this. Been slightly disappointed with other Carnao DJ sets that I'd heard but fully feeling this one. :D
Currently kind of missing my old job where I had the thumbs-up to listen to stuff on headphones, it would make getting through all these mixes much easier...
Big up everyone posting mixes in this thread. Got a fair bit of catching up to do on them still but at the moment really enjoying the Majesty and Lance Morgan sets from Frequency.
Yeah add me to the list of people who are enjoying the Arun Verone mix a lot.
It's got that compulsive 'in the zone' feel which to me is one of the special aspects of house music (but also one that I struggle at describing properly  ).
It's definitely close between them - for me Raw Power might have more stand-out moments (Gimme Danger being the big one for me but obv Search & Destroy deserves its fame too) but Funhouse is just this perfect sustained blast that really captures a particular nasty kind of vibe. More or less...
Browsing the thread and seeing Funhouse by the Stooges come up a few times - that one's right up there for me too, I think if it was specifically a question of 'favourite rock album ever' I would put it at the top.
Getting involved in this one at paolo's request.
Obviously a very tricky question to answer but boringly enough my top 3 most likely candidates would be albums that show up on these sort of list all the time. So -
Love - Forever Changes
The Band - self-titled
Television - Marquee Moon
(now...
Yeah I enjoyed the mix a lot Benny, even on a set of 'big bait classics' you managed to throw in some bits that I'd never heard before.
Flatbeat still puts a smile on my face after all these years too.
