Lana Del Rey - Born to Die

Someone on twitter called food cunt is raucously satirising and winding up foodie types, quite funny. His tweets below remained me of this thread...maybe it's a dissensian in disguise. Eustace Horsemeat ‏@FOOD_CUNT "Phew! All done shopping. Tonight I'm going to hit Soho dressed like the king of...

    Beer And Beer Drinking

In beer news I had a Black Betty from Beavertown at the weekend which was pretty delicious, although very strong in both alcohol and taste. It smells just like a strongly hopped American pale ale but when tasted it's more like a stout with coffee and smoke and chocolate before a bitter...

    Sleng Teng version excursion

Nice one! Sounds good so far. Great musical/cultural trope. Would be interesting to hear a full hardkore continuum mix right through into jungle and dubstep.

    Vinyl dying (for DJ's)

Right. Cheers. I feel a bit like with this debate there are multiple audiences – if someone plays a banging set or well-judged music that sets off the party then 95% of the people there won’t care what the medium of the music is. The 5% may be into the craftsmanship angle and respect the fact...

    Vinyl dying (for DJ's)

so it detects the bpm of two tracks and you then adjust the new one to fit the old one without the need for hearing the two?

    Vinyl dying (for DJ's)

Might be silly question but how can you DJ without headphones?? (I mean technically, I'm not making a value judgement).

    the bowie thread

My mate works at the V and A and he said it's all booked out to the max. People who work there aren't even getting a few free tix as they normally do, so mega popular. I'm a newcomer to the man and having my 'big bowie period' at the moment! So the last 3 months have seen me hear a lot of all...

    Beer And Beer Drinking

On a dark IPA tip I tried some Redwillow Soulless recently which was hardocre, some proper strong off notes with lots of hops and sweet dark taste like a stout. Just bagged a Beavertown Black Betty in bottle form too to try tonight.

    RIP Bigas Luna

Yeah, of the 4 monvies I've seen (this collection) Jamon Jamon and Goldenballs are deffo the best two. Like early raucous and melodramatic Almodovar but with a tragic/hard edge.

    RIP Bigas Luna

Yes, she's pretty amazing as a young woman in this, different vibe altogether from now. Only seen 3 or so of his films in a box set but RIP

    London pubs

Yeah it wasn't very trendy hoxton at all (it was mainly young-medium age people but very chilled and not show-offy). The Improv things sounds pretty fun (and epic).

    London pubs

Found a good place on Hoxton that i'd cycle passed many a time but not realised was pretty great inside - Howl at the Moon. A bit of a hidden gem I reckon. We easily got seating at 9 on A Saturday night, it’s not too busy. Awesome choice: 3 kernels, Gueuze and lots of other stuff in the fridge...

The ratebeer site seemed to say its occasionally called an India Dark Ale (IDA) which could work I guess.

    Beer And Beer Drinking

Yeah, it's a good un. Never noticed the smell! My only beef is that it gets very noisy and busy. The Southampton Arms in Gospel Oak is nice - their sister pub.
