Theres a kind of ironic self-inflationary, austere/quirky humor that increasingly defines the tone of these films. Often times quickly paced, maybe staccato is a good word for some of these instances, etc.
Ah, I think that might be an attempt at the kind of austere humor that maybe 20-somethings seem to gravitate around. At least in the US. I think it goes over well, that kind of humor.
He did Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, World's End, etc. At once commercially successful and has a cult following.

I catch myself using more and more of these phrases. I'm so deep undercover I don't know which way is up. Sometimes I say conTROVersy instead of CONtroversy, adVERTisement instead of ADvertisement, etc.
Wasn't Tom Cruise originally in negotiations to play Tony Stark? Imagine the MCU as a vehicle for scientology.
edit: admittedly I know almost nothing about scientology. Complete mystery to me why its a thing. I totally lack insight here.
