    Jersey Threatens to Leave UK

All sounds a bit William Gibson to me. And also probably the future.

    How England Sees Itself

I think we have yet to see the full extent of enforced-patriotism. There's still the Olympics to go. Any whiff of a non-conformist lack of orgasmic joy at the coming events will result in an ASBO. It will be interesting to see how the world views us after this, and the riots it will hopefully...

    Jersey Threatens to Leave UK

Taken from that article, this seems like flawed thinking to me. So you could take advantage of your local environment and government - but not pay the taxes that allow that environment to function? I don't think that falls under the umbrella of a 'free market'.

Your preferred digital DJ system and why

I've been replacing my 320's with FLAC for the past year or so. Now 90% of my 2TB music hoard is CD-quality, reading that at least made me feel like I wasn't wasting my time. I'm not sure if he's just talking about FLAC usage in relation to Traktor, but if not, he's incorrect about the tag...

    Jungle

Not sure if to go for the jungle or juke thread with this... but what do people think about the new Dream Continuum on Planet Mu? Better than either artists individual output for me:

For someone who mocks internet nerdery without a hint of irony, he sure does spend a lot of time on Twitter.

What do I need to know to be a Proper Grown Up?

Thank God for this thread. I just cannot become an adult, even people 10 years my junior still intimidate me with their worldly knowledge and grasp of mature norms. I keep thinking they have sussed me, especially when it turns out I have no interest in football and can't join in sporting pub...

    Teaching

Well I gave it a go last year, sitting in on some lessons and helping out where I could. The people, both teachers and kids were great. The system seemed like a total nightmare however, with slower kids getting left behind in the frantic rush to prepare for exams. I found it a pretty stressful...

    Shoegaze

I've always like MBV and Slowdive, but have real trouble enjoying anyone else beyond these two. Another current dream-pop band; SPC ECO. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/UUn_m6EcSDc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>...

I didn't know this, they should really push this more... surely it connects with the facebook generation more than the phone.

    bloody miserable

Does he let people in his room? Can someone wrangle a way in to sit with him watching movies for a bit, strike up some conversation on his turf... try and engage him on a basic level through that first? Or is he completely adverse to social contact now?

Its my own fault for rambling on in a vague childish sarcastic way.

    Darkstar

I was joking! I just found all the worrying about the JB comparisons quite amusing. Kode9 has clearly stated his mission to explore new styles with hyperdub. I say bring it on. I would love it if he had an office like Simon cowell though.

    Darkstar

At what point does a label owners dedication to that labels musical direction get muddied by the artists going off on a tangent? So Kode9 loves the earlier work of Darkstar and sends them off to record an album, they come back telling him about a change of line up, a new singer and present him...

    Fav electronic label?

Type is hit and miss but you can't dismiss it. Peter Broderick, The Alps, Svarte Greiner - all quality stuff to my ears. If anything the Xela releases rank amongst my least favourite of the labels output. Not my favourite label by a mile though... that is going to require some pondering.

Your preferred digital DJ system and why

Worth pointing out that if you are a laptop DJ you really don't need the audio4 and its extra inputs, the much cheaper (and sadly, plasticy) Audio 2 is exactly the same hardware inside.

This is so true, I know for a fact he uses a copy of Fruityloops from 2002.
