    Marking Up CDs?

Quite a few labels who produce CDr releases use a rubber stamp, not sure how much a custom one of those would cost but there seem to be plenty of websites offering the service.

Yeah already grabbed the FLAC for it. It just upsets the OCD in me. I've noticed a few CDs with mastering errors on them recently, the latest Joanna Newsom album is another shocking one, but I digress.

I got the first Deep Medi CD and mine had an audio glitch in the middle of 'Changes' by Mala. Mentioned it to Juno where I had bought it and they kindly sent me another copy. Turns out the CD must have been mastered that way because it had exactly the same error. Anyone else got this release...

What happened to DMZ digital downloads? I bought DMZ001 - 008 ages ago on Bleep. Just been back to see if more recent releases were up and theres now nothing at all. They pulled them because of a dislike of the digital format? Probably means the new Mala album will be vinyl-only as well then...

    house and techno are bad

Speaking of the new Mills album, the cheapest place I can find it is Honestjons for £20. I don't usually steal albums off rapidshare but in this instance Jeff is pushing me towards the edge. This will be the most I've ever spent on a single CD.

Lifelike was my introduction to Mills. Slightly scary to think it is 10 years old already.

    house and techno are bad

Don't get my wrong, I love loads of Kompakt releases, but a lot of it blurs into one in my memory - I have trouble distinguishing who released what. Same goes for Tresor. My use of the word 'pap' was probably overly harsh.

Not sure how you can make that statement about Clone, the label that gave us the Lab Rat XL album, as well as Der Zyklus ad Drexciya cuts... the Alden Tyrell album and so on. In fact if you look at the Clone discography you will notice it is a mix of electro, acid, techno and that the label has...

    house and techno are bad

You break down the track list of one of his recent sets and you will find it is composed of pretty much standard tracks. He isn't 'performing' by constantly creating custom edits on the fly, he is mixing.

Have you explored Deupree's 12k label roster yet? One of the few labels where I just buy every release on sight without bothering to preview.

I'm going to have to go back through my ambient stuff now, see what i have that I've forgotten about. I feel a new thread coming on. I have plenty of Namlook but that certainly is just a synth pad with a bit of reverb.

lazy query - wheres a good place to sell vintage speakers?

Seconded. AVForums is the biggest place outside of eBay in the UK for buying and selling hi-fi gear. The trouble you will find is that people tend to expect a bargain on there, even more so than eBay prices - so getting your asking price of £300 could be tricky. You might get lucky and find a...

    Teaching

Thanks. I should have clarified my position a little more: I'm a freelance person at the moment and I intend to give up one full day a week to participate in any way I can in my local school. Ideally becoming some kind of teaching assistant so I can slip into the routine of being in a classroom...
