teachers to be thought police, err counter terrorism

At the college level, in the US, you do have the fools like Jonah Goldberg and David Horowitz for whom "academic freedom" means "affirmative action for unqualified conservative ideologues" .. but anyway they are apparently genuinely concerned with liberal bias in the classroom. my favorite take...

teachers to be thought police, err counter terrorism

what a revoltin' development in the US, teachers (at least the state employed ones) are sometimes pressured to speculate/inform on the immigration status of their pupils, wouldn't be surprised if this is folded into those requests. Simply vile.

    Great 2 Step?

Man, G Notorious, know him from wayy way back. There's a photo of me at Jungle Roots in Boston (big up Al Fougy) that he took that was in URB (back when urb was you know, worth having a look at). I knew him first as a photographer, then a drumnbass dj, then it was 2-step all the way. man's been...

    Anyone feeling Zulu (US MC)?

reviving... still quite enjoying the David Last/Zulu album www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=117087 although I think Last could have pushed it a bit more in terms of bass. But I may be schooled to that from hearing Zulu on so many DJ C tracks. Zulu and Warrior Queen played together in Chicago...

    Food 'n' Class

One of the main problems is that poor neighborhoods in a lot of places in the US simply don't have grocery stores, especially not with a fresh food section.. not for miles. Nor farmer's markets. There's liquor stores, fast food chains, and corner shops with pre-packaged shit. Not a lot to get...

She may have been gorgeous, but she was also pretty young - 20 in To Have and Have Not. Although she'd been modeling for a while, she may not have felt like she had all men on a string yet.

Your preferred digital DJ system and why

The problem for me is not only do I not want to render my current skill set less useful, but also, so far I have yet to find a midi controller that is fun to use. The tactile aspect of vinyl is still the most fun for me, playing live, way better then pushing buttons or sliders. I use Serato...

    Sci-Fi novels

woops, missed that! yes, I think Double Vision is my favorite she doesn't have distribution in the US, i think, all her paperbacks are super expensive, more's the pity. Also, I think Lois McMaster Bujold and C.J. Cherryh, more in the space-opera vein, can be pretty entertaining Nalo Hopkinson...

    Sci-Fi novels

yeah I did eventually try Mieville again. I enjoyed Perdido St. station and I also agree with your characterization, pretty much. On that note I'm struggling through the fantasy novel Little, Big which has some similar resonances (although far far less explicitly horror-laced). I really...

Oh my god my mom and I went to see that when it came out in the US, I think. I was only 13 or 14 it fucking destroyed me. I'm sure she had no idea how rough it was going to be, but somehow we couldn't leave, it was so intense.

    black roots - white fruits

do you really think that the most important thing is not to talk about how white people are advantaged in relation to black people? can you explain how it helps black people to not talk about that?
