HOUSE- breaking news, gossip, libel, lies etc,

this is also the rolling rinse.fm thread, right? a really cheesy prog house track just got played -- can't say that i liked it in the least but what a great sample = a diva chastising her boy, "you know that love is a four-letter word . . . if you don't do it good, love is a four-letter word"

taffy -- "i love my radio"

    Woebot on funky house

by way of example last time i was at a big party -- 4th ward or whatever, on scholes in bushwick -- one of the guys from !!! was djing. he played nothing but early chicago house and what i took to be "space disco" old and new. he didn't mix records, but was a master manipulator of volume and...

    Woebot on funky house

that's my gloss not sure if woebot would draw such lesson from the "end" of the hardcore continuum popularity is no justification for a practice the justification for "hardcore" djing, i always thought, was the development of new sounds and experiences. only by radicalizing rhythm, only by...

    New York vs. London

yeah, i hate comping food for people who are "friends" of the boss, b/c they very rarely tip on it. the kicker is that the friends are usually pretty damn rich themselves, so it's like let's give free things to the rich and make the poor suffer . . . . only exception to this is that, when at a...

    Woebot on funky house

people respond to what woebot says, b/c (1) he's got a massive readership, i.e., people actually read his blog, esp. people who frequent dissensus (he started dissensus) (2) he's got his ear to the ground of london -- and so people like me who care about what goes on in london check woebot's...

    New York vs. London

neapolitans are the originators -- thin crust, black olives, anchovies and what not chicago is "deep dish" st louis is "thin crust with provel" new york is whatever

    Woebot on funky house

well, woebot did leave me scratching my head. (what is funky house?) but my allegiance has always been to house and eclectic djing under the house umbrella -- so maybe i'm looking for vindication -- i.e., what goes on inner city london/manchester is like the gold standard of cool, you know --...

    Woebot on funky house

a lot of this music he's playing today is really blah and middle of the road -- though he says he's being "commercial" today, so who knows the "creep" track is rather catchy, and even has that compressed sound and other cheesy effects that i would ascribe to late 90s funky house

    Woebot on funky house

not trying to do a repeat of yesterday's collective listening frolic, but superior's on rinse right now. i really like his vibe and the way he comes across as a person

    Woebot on funky house

a couple points, in response to things said upthread first, the stuff dj superior was playing this morning (nyc time) was NOT disposable music -- esp. in early part of his set he was playing music that, if anything, has no expiration date relative to lots of other dance music -- it was, pardon...

    Woebot on funky house

i have to shower and go to work now interesting experiment in collective listening, yes?

    Woebot on funky house

not sure if the man has an aesthetic -- the set seems to have lost all cohesion at this point -- i really liked what he was playing earlier now he's playing minimal-techy-like tracks that are admittedly good for what they are, but i'm not sure what the point is . . . .

    Woebot on funky house

errr, though it now sounds a bit like trance?! -- track called "serenity" -- why the fuck not

    Woebot on funky house

this dj superior has got a good sound -- perhaps a bit conservative -- but i have no quarrel with this man

    Woebot on funky house

ha ha dj superior just endorsed the dmz crew and dubstep -- said they'll have the scientist in next week on his show -- said things might get a bit heated if people disagree??? but yeah, dj superior is just playing house music, some tracks good, some tracks not so good the track right now is...

    Woebot on funky house

is it fair to say that rinse.fm generally plays funky house these days? the adverts are really annoying they've got "dj superior" on now -- he's better than the adverts at least i think i should tune in for a few days, before i spout an opinion . . . .
