    v o i c e s c a p e s [best of]

Moondog. He was a blind giant of a man who dressed like a Viking and carried a staff. He hung out on 6th Ave by some manhole cover that was on the sidewalk. I think he demonstrated that certain unique notes (lol) could be played by hitting it right. He was long gone by the time I became aware of...

Since it's been a while since we had an Israel/Palestine thread...

It sure seems that way. Perpetual victim hood. It’s pathological. One of my closest friends from work who was born/raised in Brooklyn, but served in the IDF. He is convinced that anything short of annihilating Gaza is a sign of surrender on Israel’s part. Needless to say we’ve had some...

    Decolonise America

It’s simply a false equivalence from my pov. Idk if you copied/pasted the statistics or have them memorized but you can help too. On a side note, and don’t want anyone this to come off the wrong way. When I first got involved I was keen to show off my ‘Knowledge’ because I’d read a few books...

    Decolonise America

You have no idea how involved I’ve been in justice campaigns for Native Americans. Beginning with the Leanard Peltier case I’ve been involved perhaps before you were even born (idk). I served with, and have been hosted by more than a few NA’s and we have had deep meaningful conversations and...

    THE GRID

If it don’t apply, let it fly (ignore). The op/topic is over my head. The symbols though are fascinating.

    Who goes MAGA

I’ve read/heard Chomsky most notably, but many others warn of the same in any ‘free’ society. It is a real concern. Most hurt people are willing to hurt others if only to symbolically aleve their misery in the short term.

    Decolonise America

That’s incorrect. I’ve simply pointed out the historical precedence. If you (as you’ve stated) are anti-colonialism, very brave stance (way after the fact btw), then why do you defend the current slaughter? I’ve stated quite clearly that had the internet/real time media technology existed in...

    Decolonise America

That sentence in particular sounds very much like the country whose methods we are, in the NOW, discussing.

    Decolonise America

I wonder if all American ancestors of European descent went back. Might the Neanderthal & Cro Magnon community be offended?

    Decolonise America

True, but as I’ve said earlier; I doubt their is a nation on the planet (including First Nations/native Americans) who haven’t engaged in the same behavior. You’re making an argument for repatriation, no? Let’s set some base lines at least. What is the statute of limitations on land claims? 2000...

    Decolonise America

Not at all. It is one of my favorite albums & bands of all time. If you were referring to the track ‘Return the Gift’ that’s a pretty ambiguous statement that can be interpreted as directed at any settler colonial nation, Canada, Australia, NZ, the U.S…. I always interpreted it as a far more...

    The 21st Century Film

Sounds cool. Before I was married my longest relationship was with a filmmaker. Living with her was one hell of a film education. Probably four nights a week we would watch two films a night. From Maya Deren to Cassavettes to Godard to Kurosawa…she really introduced me to a ton. After we broke...

No, what is it? Edit: I just looked it up. Is it better (Christ I hope so) than Tubi?

There was one with a matador getting gored with a photo of the bulls horn going in under his jaw and out his mouth. The Headline: H-OLE!

    favourite headline ever

The Post is the headline goat. One of the other memorable ones for me was when the military shot down one of the al quada bigshots. It had a picture of his dead face and read: Warm up the Virgins!

if New York can die so can London

There is a major factor in nostalgia of not really missing the past as missing being young. I can remember my parents who were both born under very harsh conditions in 1929 & 31 respectively who despite living in poverty & squalor at times talked about their youth with such wistful sentimentality.
