documentary films

I used to do that when I'd been smoking a lot at uni, often with Vangelis Beauborg. I'm utterly fascinated by nuclear weapons, my brain just can't seem to process the magnitude of their destructive power. I seem to remember something about the Enola Gay co-pilot never being able to overcome...

    documentary films

Trinity & Beyond - The Atomic Bomb Movie is pretty good. It's narrated by William Shatner (as most things should be in my opinion) and is essentially a condensed history of nuclear weaponary between the mid 40s and the mid 60s, told through archive footage with a rather excited classical...

    Great 2 Step?

I had no idea it was going for a lot these days, most of my DFL stuff is pretty ragged these days though. Brotherhood deserve a mention too, their releases on Shelflife, Ride it Riddims and especially the K.C.A. - Spirit remix on Virtuoso are great.

    What is Deleuze?

I had to understand Deleuze's ontology first to really get how important the rest of it all is, but it's wonderful how you can approach his/their texts from so many angles. Deleuze gives us a way to think about matter, thought, action as all real, without having to add another dimension or...

    Great 2 Step?

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but this has to be one of the finest 2step tunes I've ever heard. It breaks both the No Groove Chronicles and No Locked On rules of the thread though. <param name="allowFullScreen"...

    Foraging in London

Also, Apricots on the trees outside the museum (walking down the hill toward East Dulwich) and more Brambles than I have ever seen on the dirt track that connects Homestall Road and Colyton Road behind the reservoir in foresthill/nunhead.

    what are you reading now?

I finished The Drowned World by Ballard this morning and will read the notes at the back with a cup of tea shortly, I'm also wandering around After Finitude by Quentin Meillassoux. Next I reckon on reading Anathem by Neal Stephenson and whatever philosophy on my bookshelf that my brain can work...

When did dubstep lose the plot?

Someone told me that even though there are lots of good tunes being put out at the moment the raves (FWD excluded) have become shit now and that's what really made the scene in the first place. I wouldn't really know as I don't go to them but it seems a fair assumption to me.

    What is Deleuze?

I had a go at reading some more of this thread... Gosh you're an angry bunch. Have people mainly read Deleuze and Guttari rather than Deleuze's work on his own?

    Collapse issue 2

I've just read Vol. One and just starting Vol. Two, they've been on my shelf since they first came out but I never got round to reading them. I have to say I'm really enjoying it, it's a wonderful collection of thought and the Interviews work especially well. Did anyone else feel like Ray...

    What is Deleuze?

Gosh, what an interesting thread. I'll attempt to read the whole thing later when I have time. One thing that struck me though about D&G falling out of fashion is that it's easier to read Zizek and Badiou because you don't have to have read Foucault, Heidegger, Kant, Freud and other Deleuze...

    Funky/London/UK House

House music sounding better in clubs? Nah mate, jog on. It's not the most atmospheric music is it, the rhythms are interesting (in a similar way to 2Step rhythms) or at least a bit different but as far as space and potentiality in the tunes it's all about the club and dancing. Dubstep created...
