    Tricky vs. Goldie

Tricky always came off to me as one of those crossover artists that appeal to people who were in a punk band in their teenage years, like his generation's Linton Kwesi Johnson. I can understand his qualities but I've never really got the appeal.

    Anxiety.

This is why we need Jesus. Alternatively, some of the newer cults are built around this premise. Which is obviously a form of anxiety thinking itself. Nobody can know the future, yet it's easy to forecast impending catastrophe and easy to believe in such forecasts. But obviously the only true...

    Anxiety.

IMHO general anxiety about the 'state of the world' or whatever, and some form of diagnosable anxiety disorder are obviously two seperate things that it's not always useful to conflate. But as usual I only have about 40% of an idea of wtf it is these threads are about. These days.. The world...

    lock the doors

I had a friend, many years ago, who got really into gabba. The last time in saw him was at some free party rolling around on the floor with cock out yelling "play some fucking gabba!".

    The Outer Limits

There's a lot of jungle/dnb inspired video game music; from somewhat authentic sounding stuff to more outer limits 'inspired' stuff. I think this was partially down to dnb becoming a popular sound in Japan in the late 90s / early 00s. I don't know how much it spread into their mainstream, but it...

    The Outer Limits

Yeah, what Dusty said. Whilst I and everybody else here would relish exploring a curated list of the outer limits of our favourite genres, the original premise seems logically flawed. Please don't let that kill the thread tho. The idea of a collection of tracks that are simultaneously genre...

In an alternative universe this is a grime producer making a Broken Beats track that got rinsed at Co-op.

    The Uncredible

I was looking at the album of the year aggregate site https://www.albumoftheyear.org/ratings/6-highest-rated/2019/1 and there seem to be quite a few metal related albums high up in the list. i'm completely disconnected from such things but it looks like something of a renaissance / purple patch.

Fair enough. I really wasn't trying to make some deep statement. Feel free to explain why it's ridiculous.

    The Uncredible

I think that the emo side of contemporary US hip hop is a lot like the original US blues. Dudes talking about the pains of existence in a wavy, raw fashion, talking about getting fucked up to escape, how the drugs will fuck you up you as well, all over minimalist repetitive musical accompaniment.
