    Vinyl dying (for DJ's)

I always understood that twelve inch vinyls had an extremely small profit margin. Something about the way they are pressed up and distributed then sold for less than an album. Such a huge quantity were either promotional gifts or would sit unsold in a record store before mark downs or being sent...

    Vinyl dying (for DJ's)

I have a problem with the heavier vinyl pushing its way through the paper sleeves. Its really annoying, I bought some double 12" with cute artwork and super fine paper sleeves but the super heavyweight vinyl had pushed its way through the thin paper on all three sides.

    Vinyl dying (for DJ's)

I think the theory is they are less likely to warp, and allow deeper grooves but aren't really cut that deep anyway.

    World Cup 2014

I've been able to visit Brazil a couple times over the past year. The idea of Brazil failing to win the whole tournament is a complete unmentionable thought crime. It just cannot happen, it cannot be allowed to happen. Any suggestion of failure by "a seleção" is met with complete disbelief.

    Vinyl dying (for DJ's)

I can only speak about American stores, but the long presence of "last rights" reissues have been around for a long time now. If you see an old album vacuum packed in plastic with a price tag of ten dollars plus the retail stores markup (up to eighteen), its an album that stopped making money...

    EDM

I think the comparisons to 80's hair metal are the best for EDM, expecting these guy to grow older and mature and make better music might not be realistic. I think Deadmau5 has some"chill" tracks on his albums, but the quality is just awful, and we all remember that Skrillex channels Burial...

Its on the NYTimes obituary page today. I always thought DJ E-Z Rock's It Takes Two and the tracks like it had an influence on a lot of the booty house producers too.

    EDM

Nice job burying the lead in that video. Bourdain is talking with a magician complaining about being squeezed out by the success of EDM. I don't want to make guesses about what Bourdain says or does in Vegas over the whole episode, but Vegas has changed because the demographics of people...

    the Afro-American Roots of Kraftwerk

Arcade Fire have some kind of Carnival theme that goes from their album and marketing campaign to their live show and music videos. I can't peel my eyes open long enough to watch the video, but I think it has celebrities in Carnival costumes that take off their masks for some kind of dramatic...
